Hello,
I'm new to this so I hope this goes thru /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
I was just wondering if anyone out there knows if and where I might be able to get a soft cab for my TC30. Just got it after new years /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gifand with all the cold weather I have been kicking the idea of getting one.
Anyone have an idea what they might cost???
Any Help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Henry

Welcome to TBN

I would have guessed that Curtis Cabs makes a soft sided cab for your tractor for about $1500. Their website www.curtiscabs.com doesn't actually mention that tractor, though. You might give them a call. I don't know about their cabs from personal experience but I have one of their snowplows and it has done well so far.

Hello Henry, and Welcome to TBN! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

You happened to touch on a topic that has been generating quite a bit of discussion over the last few weeks. Gee, I wonder why?? /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Anyway, I think if you use the search feature at the top of the page and do an "All Forums" search with key word "Cab", you might find quite a lot of information.

Good luck! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hi,
Thanks snowbound. I did check these cabs out on the web but I was thinking more of the soft sided and front. Something that isn't so permanent for the summer months. I've seen them in older NH brochures but not in any newer ones for the TC30. I'll just have to call my NH dealer tomorrow and ask. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif Thanks for the welcome. This is a very informative and friendly place to be among fellow NH admirers. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Thank You for the friendly welcome note. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
I will see what the dealer says tomorrow. Now I guess I will get ready for my next question. I bought the R4 option and I'm considering having them changed for turf tires and chains since I will be mowing with it mostly in the summer months. My property can be extremely wet at times. I'm just hoping my new TC30 isnt to heavy for the application. I had a 1210 before and it seemed to get the job done unless it was exceptionally wet or right after a good rain. I've even been thinking of just purchasing a set of turfs to try both. I could probably sell the R4's later for a fair price. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Not that I'm made of money just don't want to make a wrong decision. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif Seems the opinion of turfs vs. R4's here is pretty split into pros and cons. Hope I'm replying to these messages the proper way. This is all new to me. Forums that is /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
Guess I should make this question a new post.
Thanks for the Help. It doesn't go unappreciated.

You're doing just fine Henry! Don't worry about it.

There are a number of owners of TC30's that will eventually pipe in with information for you. The most notorious (infamous?? /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif) is Mrwurm (aka Jerry). Very knowledgeable fellow. By the sound of it, your planned use of the tractor is very similar to how Jerry uses his.

Keep the questions coming, because we ALL learn from each other. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have a 1320 (older version of TC30 same size just 20HP) 4wd with turf tires. The turf tires seem to do all right on the dry ground. But my yard stays wet in some areas and the turf just pack full and spin out. I have chains for all four tires that i use in the winter and when brush hogging. I think the R-4's should do all right, but that is up to you to deceide.

Just my 2-cents.

Hi Henry,

I have filled turfs (rim-guard) on my TC 30 and have not had any problems with rutting except in one spot that will grow ruts if you look at it cross-eyed! The rear finish mower leaves more tracks than the tractor.

We have only had about 6 inches of snow at one time so far this winter and the turfs (in 4wd with no chains) did just fine. Our drive is about 1800 feet with a moderate hill and lots of ice this year.

As for the cab idea, quite honestly I haven't looked into it. Not being cheap (squeak), just couldn't justify the expense in our area. Besides that, at my age I gotta prove I can still handle the weather!

Welcome aboard!

Don

Hi,
First I want to say thank you to everyone so far for being so nice. I really like the people here. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I think I might forget the cab idea. Checked with the dealer and the cheapest canvas cab they make is about $800.00 /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif The dealer is having their open house next month and I was told they would give me 10% off any purchases so I might take advantage of that and buy a complete set of turfs and rims. I think I can sell the R4's for a fair price once I see which performs better in the field. Hard to describe the property here but it can be wet. We are in lowlands bordering a sizable creek and right below the topsoil ( 10"-12") you hit clay. Drainage into the ground is somewhat poor when we have a wet season. Don't have the extra cash really but there is always plastic /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Thanks to all and I look forward to checking out and replying to many forums.

Garry, thanks for the honorable mention. lately, many of these threads get past me as I'm quite busy and not paying as much attention as I used to.

Henry, TSC (Tractor Supply Co.) advertises some universal fit soft-sided cabs in their catalog. Maybe that would suit you?
