Im new here as a member but have been reading this forum for a long time
I have a noise I can't find, see what you think

It comes from the rear axle area under the seat with and without any attachments
It only makes noise when going from a dead stop or foward to revese or visa a versa
Its kind of a solid sounding squeak or knock like something is loose and as the troque changes directions it shifts, it only makes this noise once until you change directions again.
its a low pitch "erk" sound like the rops or something heavy is moving front to back
The rops are tight and so are the wheels and it is not speed or bounce related
I do not have a Backhoe so I dont have the subframe for it,
This is a manual colume shift not HST
Thank you in advance for your help

Tires rubbing against the 3PH arms? Sounds simple, but it happened to me! Tires hitting somewhere else? Can't really think of anything else.

Could it be one of the brakes are not releasing untill you move a little.

I am thinking breaks are hanging up and releaseing, how would I ajust this with out loosing brake pressure?
thanks for all your input

I would check the manual but my 1210's are a mechanical linkage that is adjusted but turning a nut to lengthen or shorten it.

I have been thinking it might be the breaks but it is more of a low pitch squeak, adjusting them seems to feel of the pedal not the release of the breaks, it isn't the applied pressure its the release pressure, is there a spring on the brake shoe that might have come loose, if so where in the world is it, and how would I check it?

To check if it's the brakes, try to apply medium pressure to the brakes while you change directions. If you don't hear any noise, it sounds like brake pads or springs rubbing. Also, you might try a few hard braking cycles to clean things up in there if you don't use your brakes much.

Its not the brakes, I ruled it out with some more seat time. I get the noise in an off camber situation or a binding position while moving or when changing directions, it must be related to the body work or the ROPS shifting but it is to low of a sound to be sheet metal , my ROPS clamp on and the lower 3 pt arms attach to them. which is why it is more noticeable with an attachment but yet is still present with out one. I will try and tighten the ROPS tonight and see if that changes anything. It might sound like a pet pev but it gets olds when using the fel back and forth with squeak/squeak.

I had the similar issue and as JackB noted, it was a lack of clean grease in the tube for the spline shaft. The splines get dirty and then grab until you put enough torque for the shaft to move.
