All this talk about the TC30 has me looking at them! Just for grins I called a local New Holland dealer who gave me some start pricing over the phone:

TC30 (Hydro) - $13,300.00
FEL (New Holland) - $3,200.00
72" Finish Mower (didn't specify brand) - $1800.00

$17,300.00

That's probably a little high, but what do you expect over the phone?

He was very pleasant and encouraged me to "Come on down" to check it out further.

I explained to him briefly my situation and what I might want to do with the tractor and he concurred that it was probably a good size for my needs. The more people I talk to, the more it appears that the 24 to 30HP range is where I need to be?

I asked him to elaborate on the differences between the TC29 and TC30 but he didn't go into too much detail. Just said that they were about the same size and that the "29" had an adjustable steering wheel etc. I'm sure there are more differences, but is it primarily cosmetic vs. functional?

I asked him about Super Steer? (SS), and he said he sells more without than with.

Anyway, I'm a bit away from pulling the trigger on anything, but it appears that the TC30 has made it onto my short list.

Attention all TC30 owners: Keep the presses rolling on your reports! This model appears to be one of the better bangs for the buck out there.

Kevin,

I totally agree with you! I'm looking real hard at it also. Having the hydro available is what has me interested.

Hey - maybe if enough of us get the TC30, Muhammad will add it to the Tractor Information section! /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif I wonder how many it would take to get it added? /w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif

The only serious complaint I've heard about the TC30 is that the turnbuckles used to adjust the side links on the lower 3 pt hitch arms are a bit flimsy (or perhaps they were talking about the stabilizers?). A couple of people have reported bending them. Something to look at, and I'd recommend double-checking this comment, since I may be remembering it incorrectly.

This is also one of the areas where the TC29D has an advantage... these parts seem beefier, and the deluxe 3 pt hitch (telescoping lower arms) makes connecting implements a breeze. You can get the same hitch on a regular TC29 (non-"D" model) for about $170, if memory serves...

Is it possible to upgrade to the deluxe 3PH like on the boomers? The trouble changing implements is one of the biggest areas that I need to improve in my current situation. Or would a quick attach system be even better?

I am inclined toward the deluxe 3PH for maximum flexibility and convenience…

Are there any other major caveats with the economy unit with HST? I haven't price compared it to the boomer, if you fix it up, does it end up at the tc29d price?

Mike, the TC30 has the same 3pt system as the TC29. I am told that only the lift arms are different. I believe it would be a simple swap.

And yes, I was tempted to upgrade a few things on my TC30 but that would have added quite a few bucks. For example... Swinging drawbar kit, cruise control kit. I don't know if a folding rops was available. I decided to get the base tractor and see if I really need anything else. So far the fixed rops is no problem for me. Lack of cruise control does not affect me because I'm not planning on mowing with it. Swinging drawbar, hmm/w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif , that may be on the wish list.

are there any other major limitations, say fot Backhoe, FEL, etc?

I will be using this one for dirt work, maintaining roads, handling Round bales and bush hogging on 40 acres (I have critters eating it as well...)

Mike, one of the nice things about the NH TC30 is that it uses the same loader and backhoes (756c or 757c) that are available for the higher-priced boomer line. The TC30 even has the same rated hydraulic system pressure as the class II Boomers such as TC29 or TC33 (2133 psi). The TC30 does have somewhat lower flow rates so while this machine can do the same work (pressure), it will cycle the loader and backhoe somewhat slower (flow).

Don't get me wrong, if you can afford it, the Boomer has more to offer. But, price and value, were high on my list due to budget constraints. I don't know how much a round bale weighs, but I am thinking that with 40 acres to maintain and round bales to handle, a larger frame machine may be preferable. Few people ever regret going too large. Many people regret going too small. (my opinion) Of course, bigger costs more.

I'll be happy to answer any other questions.

Its worse, that's 40 in pasture, 80 in all...

But I don't want to go so big that my wife won't be eager to use it (less than 275hp, more or less...)
