TC30...what size R4's

I want to get some R4's, what size would I need for my TC30, and who has them for the best price?

I'm guessing I just use the size on the turf's sidewalls for ordering my R4's?

Just going out on a limb here, but I bet you will have to buy new wheels.

I found a brochure online that list the turf tires on a TC30 at 13.6 x16 and for R4s as 15 x19.5 for the rear. On the Front turfs are 24x8.50-14 and R4s as 25x8.50-14. You might be able to find an R4 to fit your wheel, but I doubt it. Though it does look you won't have to buy front wheels.

Isn't there a consideration of matching the front and rear's if you have 4-wheel drive? I think I've heard you have to buy new wheels also. I'm sure someone with more knowledge will confirm.

Funny thing is I went home for lunch, and my new operator's manual had the sizes listed. Can't remember if I would need new wheels too?

After getting it stuck with the turfs, I decided i would get the R4's and be done with it. I'll have the rears loaded too.

If you are wanting ultimate traction, R1 - Ags would be the way to go. I have the R4s on my machine, while they do OK, they will fill with mud and can become slick pretty quick. For what I do though, I think they are the best tire.

I have 2 smaller areas that are mostly swampy, the rest is fairly level, with a few ditches, with a long, mostly gravel drive. I do have a decent sized asphalt pad and portion of the driveway.

I can stay out of the swampy areas, do you think the R1 or the R4 tire would be better for my intended use?

While it is dry, I really like my R4s. In the mud though they become slick prety quick. Usually 4wd and a fair amount of spinning and I'm through. When I bush hog our ditch/creek area I do get stuck fairly often. Usually I'm backing in so the loader doesn't to a great job of pulling me out - usually end up and get the truck. I've only been so stuck once that the truck couldn't pull me out. I went to get the neighbor with his 36 HP Long w/ ags. He spun a fair amount pulling me out. Of course, I've had to pull him out of the same ditch a time or 2 myself.

The R4s won't mess the yard up as bad as an ag, but don't grip as well either. They aren't great at anything (except loader & pavement work) but have better traction (usually) than turfs but don't mess stuff up as bad as ags - unless you start spinning. They will then mess it up pretty quick w/ probably more damage than the ags because the ags probably wouldn't have spun. I would probably get the R4s for your use - but that is just me.

BTW, R4s usually have a thicker sidewall which help in loader work by not bulging and also in puncture resistance.
