The guy selling it claimed it did. Not sure if he said it merely because it had DA cyls or not. Considering all the JD's and other slightly smaller NH I saw all had SA cyls.. why put DA cyls on a tractor and not give it downpressure? The lines were attatched to it.... and it looks like it would be easy to use a scv to make a lift with down pressure if you had a da cyl available?? ideas?

Smaller tractors have lift assist cylinders to boost performance of the internal cylinder. 70 series tractors rely on external cylinders only with a bore of 3-4 inches. The typical single acting lift assist cylinder has a rod diameter equalling the cylinder bore eliminating the need for a vented void above the cylinder piston. That design in a 4 inch bore would be cost prohibitive. Cylinder life will be vastly prolonged if a supply of clean oil is provided for the void above the piston as compared to allowing ambient air to enter and leave even with a filter of some type. Such a filter, when plugged would drastically shorten the piston seal life. Given the location and environment the cylinders work in, the design is probably better for many reasons. Depending on the valving, the setup could prevent unwanted hitch raising due to implement geometry without supplying downforce.

Say.. keeping oil trapped in the cyl, without letting it exhaust? That would prevent cylinder rise.. yet provide no down pressure... neat idea.

I also saw a smaller NH that had a single SA cyl on one side.. my guess was also as a lift assist.
