Guys is there any type of electrical (plug)connector on the rear of my tractor that would allow me hook up to a 16 foot trailer? My wifes decided that she wants a hayride and I would like to pull my 16 foot trailer but need the lights in the rear of the trailer to operate. Any suggestions? Also do I just put a standard ball on the drawbar that is on the tractor? Any help would be much appreciated and might get me off the hot seat:) Thanks

There's an unused pigtail between the seat and the (driver's) right fender. It's used to power the NH work light. I can't help with your trailer ball question, I've only pulled trailers that could be connected to the drawbar with a pin.

Wayne, I'd tap into the harness going to the lights mounted on the ROPs so you would have brake and tail lights. You might have to "bump up" the fuse value for the added trailer, but I doubt it. ...thats if your trailer doesn't have a bunch of running lights.

However, trailer brakes is a whole different thing if that's also what you had in mind. If so, you'd have to run a separate circuit to support electric trailer brakes.

Wayne.. I've done as jinman said.. when using a 12v tractor to pull a trailer.. just tap into one side of the tractors hazard lamps and let that power the blinkers on your trailer, and tap into the running lamps to power your running lamps. A 14awg with, stripped about a half inch, then bend the copper back over the wire seems to make a great temporary connection on the trailer end of the plug.. then the wire can run up to the tap at the harness. If this is going to be a re-curring thing.. use a "t" tap connector, and then install either a quick disconnect but connector or spade connector there on both ends.. so you can simply pop those two wires in on both sides and have a trailer hookup.

A 'stayed' 3pt drawbar and ball.. or a swinging drawbar with ball will be fine.

Also.. I've pulled a trailer with a 6v tractor. inthat case.. I threw a spare 12v battery on the trailer, and wired as before.. 1 line to the running lamps, and then bought a 1.99$ walmart hazard flasher, and threw some spade ends on some wire and hooked it straight into the trailer plug as was mentioned.

Doing this, i also added a small inverter, and ran xmas tree lamps all around the tractor, and added a small house lamp for light, and the wife and family and neighbors all had an xmas hay ride/ carolling last xmas. Pulled with my 6v 1952 ford 8n and 16' car hauler, and a few extra bales of hay.

Hayride sounds like a good way to keep the family happy with your tractor hobby. I don't know about the electrical, but I had my welder neighbor weld a 2" square receiver on top of my swinging drawbar. It's forward enough that the dropped portion of the pintle hook bar clears the end of the swinging drawbar. I can haul my wood trailer with the pintle, then switch out to the ball bar and move the construction trailer around the yard. After that, I can slide the drawbar to one side and hook on the rotary cutter and all the parts clear each other. I wouldn't put a huge amount of weight on the swinging drawbar but it should pull any balanced trailer you might come across. Also this setup is very stable compared to my 3pt drawbar even when the stabilizers are drawn up snug. Just a thought.
