New Holland TC33D
After my TC33D came to an unexpected halt (thankfully just outside my barn), I figured out that my fuel gauge is no longer functional. The indicator doesn't seem to drop below 1/2 tank.

I pulled the gauge pack out and removed the plexi window, but didn't go any deeper.

Can the fuel gauge itself be replaced or is there a suggested DIY cleaning or other to get the gauge back working again?

Thanks!
Iz

There are really only three parts the sender, the gauge, and the wiring between the two.
Start by finding where the harness connects to the sender in the tank and disconnect it. Turn the tractor ignition on. The gauge should be reading either empty or full, which one is dependent on the style of sender. If the gauge is still reading half a tank, it would most likely be the gauge. Simply cleaning the contacts may solve your problem.
Once you do that, you’ll have it narrowed down and we can help find the problem.

As far as my troubleshooting goes, I have narrowed it down to (my best technical terms) a stick gauge. Reads fine from full down to just above 1/2 tank, but the needle doesn't drop below on its own. I can push it lower with the lens off the gauge pack, but on its own, it doesn't float down toward the empty side.

If an individual gauge can be replace, I would do so -- but haven't seen that available as a part number.

Since you can access the gauge check for a bent needle or something binding preventing its movement lower on the scale.

I had the same issue with my TC40DA. New sending unit solved it. Mine was easy to change out, right behind the seat. Four screws hold it in and swap one wire.

Like others have said....it is more likely the sender is the issue...pn #86525311....gasket #48751

The sender sits high in the tank where moisture and fuel will take their toll. The sender is always moving with the sloshing of fuel and they are not really that robust. The float on the end of the arm may have moved so it is hitting the side of the tank not allowing it to go to empty.

The fuel gauge pn is #86540853

I'm assuming I can pull the cowl cover off, remove the sender, and actuate it by hand to see what happens.

Thanks all for the input

If you can get to the screws, take them out and carefully separate from the gasket. Before removing it, you should be able to lift and tilt it to test the range of motion. With the long float wire, sometimes you have to carefully turn, twist, and position it just right to get it out of the tank.
