I was mowing when the 2005 TC33D suddenly started to sputter for about a minute and then lost power. Barely made it it back in the shop. It would not rev over 1200 RPM. Changed the fuel filter and fired it up where it ran about 30 seconds and then died. Opened the bleeder screw and cranked it until I got fuel. It finally started but ran like it did right before it lost power. Revs to about 2500 RPM and stutters. I then cracked each injector line at the engine to check for fuel and got fuel out of each one. After I got done with the last line, the engine revs are swinging between 800 to 1200 RPMs and then dies. Crank it back up and it does the same. Probably only runs 10 seconds. What am I missing here?

Your probably going to have to pull the line coming from the fuel tank n check the flow.. u might have some floaters in the tank covering the outlet.??

I haven't ruled that out yet. But it seems odd that after the filter change I could run the engine at 1/3 power and now, after checking the lines, it won't run more than a few seconds.

Maybe try loosening the fuel cap. Long shot but maybe the tank is not venting.

Other than what has been mentioned, possible lift pump failure.

I didn't know this model had a lift pump on it.

No lift pump as the tank is above the injector pump. As other's have said, pull the fuel line and run a bunch of fuel in a glass container. Is there debris or water in the fuel? Does it flow good?

Not able to work on it today. Using the little mower to mow my 4 acres. Takes a while.

My guess is some junk in the tank blocking the outlet screen.

When I get some time, I'm gonna take the fuel filter back off and see how much fuel comes out with the petcock opened up.

While it's off, blow through the line into the tank. If that fixes it, clean out the tank thoroughly.
