Recently I had my tractor in the shop for a conversion of the hydraulics. While it was there the foreman noticed that the glow plug timer was going south. He put a toggle switch on it and ran the wires out the slot in the steering wheel. I used it a bit and decided to modify it so I found a pushbutton type switch in the shop and I drilled a hole in the right panel and put the push button switch near the regular switch.
Then I decided that if I washed it, which I do, it might ruin the switch. So I took a mechanics glove, similar to a surgical glove, and cut the end of the finger off and put it over the switch and took a small tie and put that on good and tight. I like the idea personally, about the only drawback I can think of is counting five seconds, since I am not to good at higher math. Since the timer is about or close to fifty bucks, I think I am going to leave it as it is. And the good part is when you let off the button the glow plugs go off and you can't turn them on with the starter switch off either.
