TC33D HST/Whining

I cranked up my 33 this morning and let it warm up about 20 minutes. When I took off down the road(in 3rd) I started to hear a sporadic whine or squeal. When I let up off the HST pedal it stopped. So, after a few minutes of the same thing, I called my dealer. The service tech came out this afternoon. They seem to think there is a problem in the HST pump. I searched the forum and read all of the posts about whining HST's. Did anyone ever come up with a solid fix on that ? Nathan(Mechanic) went back to check their assist program and see if he could find out anything positive. Anyone have some ideas on this ? It doesn't do it all the time. Only in 2nd & 3rd gear, and when RPMs are above 1500.

Lopey, you have me all mixed up with referring to 2nd and 3rd gear on a D model HST tractor! What are you referring to? My 35D whines most of the time! Steve

The D models have I, II and III ranges.

Steve,
I believe the Class II hydro Boomers have 3 ranges, while the Class IIs have 2 ranges.

Hi Steve,

Mine has three ranges. 1, 2, & 3. I guess, when you get right down to it, they aren't really gears. I'm just used to using the term gears.

When mine starts to whine, it's time for more fluid. I run mine almost to the top of the full mark on dip stick. Below half on the measuring hatch marks, it starts to get a little loud. Also, if the tractor is just setting warming up, the fluid may not be getting warm as it sets in the pan. The noise level seems to lower quickly when I start moving, moving thru the parts and warming up.

Description HYDRAULIC NOISE
Symptoms Hydraulic noise or squeal on units equipped with optional two spool remote valve for front end loader or other front mounted implements.
Causes 1. Harmonic vibration in steel pressure lines connecting the hydraulic manifold block/diverter valve and the remote valve. or 2. Front wheel drive shaft outer shield is dry and is contacting the drive shaft.
Noises 1. Replace the steel pressure line, PN 86526868, connecting the diverter valve to the remote valve and the steel pressure (power beyond) return line, PN 86526869, connecting the remote valve to the diverter valve with locally fabricated hydraulic hose. The hose acts as a hydraulic dampener reducing the hydraulic squeal.

intermittent driveline noise. Typically mistaken for hydrostatic transmission noise.
Front wheel drive shaft shield contacts the drive shaft. This happens because the drive shaft shield grease fittings are often missed. during routine maintenance. We see this complaint often in our shop.
