Well, after a whopping four hours of seat time and reading the owners manuals cover to cover, have a couple of questions/comments.

First, the way I read the owners manual, it says that I should use the clutch when changing gears. I thought that the clutch was only for the PTO, and as the tractor has a hydro, it makes no sense. In some spots, the manual specifies when the info only applies to the manual transmission or the hydro, but it didn't seem to in this particular section.

Second, the FEL control seems to be limited to either raising or lowering the loader or rolling the bucket forward or back, but not doing both at the same time, and that is what the diagram for the FEL control seems to indicate. Is that the way it is supposed to work? My neighbors Kubota and the other FEL's I have operated in the past allow(ed) you to roll the bucket at the same time you raise and lower the loader by pushing the lever diagonally instead of side to side or front to back.

Finally, went over to my neighbors place to show off the blue (he has a big Belarus and a Kubota). He drove it around a bit, liked it. He did notice that the lower left arm of the 3pt was rubbing on the inside of the tire. When I got home, I pulled the adjusting pins on the lower arms, moved the one on the left forward one position and the one on the right back one position (to the last hole). Tried it out going both directions on the slope behind my house, no more rubbing on the left side and didn't start on the right, so I guess it's good to go. Was wondering if anyone else has experienced this sort of problem on a new tractor.

Other than that, so far, so good!!

Regards,

Chuck

I have a TC18, but some of it works the same way. I think NH suggests you use the clutch when changing ranges. I have low and high on the TC18; I think you have 3 ranges. Sometimes I use the clutch when engaging low or high range; sometimes it just snicks into place without the clutch. There are no banging or grinding noises, so I assume it's just the old trick of driving a stick shift car without the clutch - when you get the speeds just right, it works. So far, I haven't tried changing ranges "on the fly"; I let up on the hydro pedal, change from low to high or back, then get on the hydro pedal again. I usually don't use the clutch using this method.

On the FEL, I'm not really sure if I'm getting simultaneous lift and curl, or if I've just gotten so used the the loader joy stick that I'm modulating it back and forth and it just seems like it's simultaneous. Either way, it's the same result - smooth lift and curl, or lift and dump, at what feels like the same time.

No comments on the 3ph - mine was apparently properly adjusted when delivered.

Chuck,

I have a TC30 and the 7308 FEL. It took some practice but I can get it to lower and curl back the bucket at the same time. After dumping a bucket of construction trash into a container, it lowers and rolls back quite smoothly. I dont press the joystick 100% in either forward (lower) or left (curl back). It is a transition of about 50% each way. I am guessing the hydrolics can only move so much fluid. I can also raise the loader and roll forward the bucket. I need the bucket forward to shut by small garage door. It is an art and slower then pressing the joy stick 100% in any direction.

This has been discussed on the forum quite a bit. Nothing wrong with using the clutch, but it isn't necessary if the hydro pedal is centered and you are sitting still; i.e., no gears turning in there at the time. There will be times when you try to put it in gear and it doesn't want to go (gears in there not lined up just right for it to slip in). Don't try to force it. If you're using the clutch, release the clutch, press the hydro pedal (very slightly), release it and try again (with or without using the clutch). When the gears are lined up right inside, it will slip easily into the gear you want with little effort.

You won't hurt anything doing both at the same time, but it may not work as you would like. You are opening two valves at the same time, so the oil will take the path of least resistance until that function reaches the limits of its travel, then the other will take over. I think you'll find that all functions work simultaneously just fine except raising the boom and curling the bucket; i.e., pulling the joystick down (or back) and left at the same time.

At least that's the way my Kubota worked and I think your tractor will be the same.

Kubota uses some fancy control valves which allow you to get pressure to both circuits at the same time. This is what they call a 'regenerative' function and it is a selling (bragging) feature on Kubotas. My NH TC30 will function this way on occasion, though it is not designed to do so. The difference is that the Kubota will apply force(pressure) to both circuits and the NH needs gravity to help. This is why it works while lowering but but not so good (if at all) when raising. This information came from my local Kubota dealer.

Simaltaneous use of both dump and roll are all possible on my Kubota regardless of whether I'm raising/dumping, lowering/dumping etc. My neighbors JD 790 does not and it is a major drawback, it really drives me nuts. The NH 2120 we use has a loader (7309 I think) that allows simaltaneous use as well. Check to be sure the TC 33D (7308?) doesn't allow for this. Rat...
