Funny related story; Back when I was doing road service I had a call-back on a TZ subcompact that had your symptoms which I did not duplicate on the first call. This time I tumbled to the idea of gas in the tank, which the owner adamantly denied. I drained a bit of the fuel into a steel drain pan I had and tossed a lit match into it. Burnt very much like gasoline. Customer says " my son in law must have done it, he borrowed it last weekend". He called the suspected perpetrator who denied adding any fuel. Customer says " I should have known he didn't do it, he uses the tractor all the time, but the SOB never puts anything in the tank! Anyone can mistakenly add gas to a diesel tank.

With the price of gasoline compared to the price of diesel right now, I'm wondering how many stations are selling diesel cut with gasoline to make a few extra bucks. Your very welcome CL and its nice to take a stab at a problem once in a while and hit it right in the heart.

my 6610 gravity feeds the inj pump , I had stalling problems that was due to the plastic strainer plugging up , had to pump tamk out and remove the valve and strainer on bottom of tank , the hole is very small in the valve , I replaced with a larger valve and no strainer , I run a clear plastic inline fuel filter between tank and primary filters , saves money on fuel filters and solved my problem

halftrack, I think it is unlikely a service sta would intentionly mix gasoline in their diesel fuel, not onky could it cause a dangerous situation for customers diesels do not do well on contaminated fuel and the problem is easy to trace back to them. I have bought gasoline that was highly mixed with diesel , I am sure it was done accidently but still caused me an exp prob

I have a 1999 New Holland 1530 with 419 hours that has a similar problem. It just happened with today's snow storm 1-23-2016. My tractor started and was idling and then just stalled out. I tried to start it again and it almost fires, but then just cranks. I had the same problem in a big snow storm about 4-years ago in January. It turned out the diesel fuel had water in it, but the only solution was to drain the tank and add new fuel. It's snowing like crazy here in Virginia, so it will be a day before I can drain the tank. Good luck!
