It seems the more I find out, the more I'm confused. I am preparing to buy a new unit w/ FEL. I have about 5.5 acres, will use initially for some moderate to heavy clearing, general FEL work, and 9" auger. General use will be for bushhogging and boxblading 1/2 mile gravel drive. The prices I have been quoted are as follows:

TC33D HST, SS, w/ 7308 FEL, HD bucket= $17,100.00

TC35D HST, w/ 16LA loader (HD bucket)= $18,700.00
(add $1,000.00 for above w/ SS, 17LA)

Kubota L3130 w/ 723(?) HD bucket, HST= $17,300.00

I have narrowed it down to these choices, but am wondering if I need the TC35D--but it seems to have significantly more capabilities than the TC35D. Are there any differences I need to know about other than power, size, or info in the literature? Would SS be worth it for the added $1k? I am afraid my eyes are getting too big for my needs. I am adding the Kubota in case there are any strong feelings out there that I have'nt considered, but the TC's seem to be my favorites. Again, thanks in advance for your tips.

Horsepower is no good if it doesnt get to the ground. Therefore, weight is good. For heavier loader work: Advantage TC35D.

Weight is no good if it is going to mess up a nice, renovated area. For maintenance: Advantage TC33D/SS, but SS would help on the TC35D.

Size is no good if it won't fit where you want to go. +33
Larger loader capacity means fewer trips/more efficient: +35

Kind of see where I am going here....? I guess you have to look short term/long term. If you need to get alot done now and don't mind "excess capacity" in the future, the 35 is the way to go. If you have time to do most of that major work a little slower and have a better "fit" for your future needs, the 33 sounds like the way to go. There is not much the 33 won't do that the 35 can do: it will just go a little slower.

I will say that the price on the 35 sounds pretty good if that is any influence....

Have fun shopping!

I think Mark covered it very well. The larger size, Hp and FEL capacity can be a benefit if you want to get work done sooner, but the larger size and weight can be a hindrance for certain operations. You need to decide which is more important for your operations - manueverability or larger capacities.

The L3130 has been getting really good reviews, and should be very comparable to the TC33D -- again, it boils down to personal preference and how the ergonomics of the machine fit you. (I tend to favor Blue , also.)

Good luck with your choice, and let us know what you decide -- with pictures. Some of us only get to enjoy brand new tractors vicariously (through others). /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
