Need help. My TC35D just quit suddenly while operating. Just before it quit, the alternator squealed. There is power as all the lights on the dash will come on but nothing happens when you turn the key. The other thing is, the pro light is on, I don't remember it being on when the tractor isn't running. The pto handle is in the off position, it's not the seat kill switch either as I checked that. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I don't know about your TC35 but my TC33 has a bullet connector under the left side operators platform that got disconnected once and prevented the tractor from starting. If your PTO light is on take a look under there, could be an easy fix. I don't have a clue about the alternator squeal. Slipping belt?

I know exactly what your problem is. It is FUSE #2 is blown. Take the two screws out of the instrument panel and lift out the panel carefully. Down under the panel on the left (and covered in dust) is the fuse assy. The 2nd fuse from the left is Fuse #2. Replace that 8 amp fuse with a 10 amp or a resetting 10 amp circuit breaker you can find at NAPA or other parts stores that fits into the fuse spot exactly. This is an extremely common problem and the PTO light ON with the lever in OFF is a dead giveaway that fuse #2 is blown. It's a nagging intermittent problem on all these tractors of this model and relates to the starter solenoid. It sticks without being fully engaged and causes high current to be drawn and the fuse to blow. If you put in a resetting circuit breaker, you'll not have to worry about it again. If you use fuses, have several spares because it WILL happen again.

I just re-read your post. You may not have a starter solenoid problem if your tractor stopped while the engine was running. If you shut it off and it would not restart, that's the solenoid problem but if it quit while running, you may have a fuel cutoff solenoid problem. There's a good chance that you may have a burned out fuel shutoff solenoid. It can also give these symptoms and also blows fuse #2. It's on the back side of the injector pump and has one wire going to it. It may be burned looking, but if you replace the fuse and it blows right away when you turn the key ON, then pull the wire off the solenoid and see if it stops the fuse from blowing. If that's it, you just unscrew the solenoid and head to the New Holland dealer for another one (about $125). BTW: If you replace the fuse and remove the solenoid, you can start the tractor, but it won't shut off. You'll have to screw the solenoid back into the pump without the wire attached to shut off the tractor. It's a little dicey, but if your tractor is out in the field somewhere, this will allow you to get it home. Just be careful. The photo below shows the fuel solenoid sticking out of the injector pump.

Jim, I have a 2005 TC 35 that seems to have the same problem. Fuse #2 blows every time key is turned on even after removing the fuel solenoid wire. What would you suggest next? I bought the tractor a couple years ago and have put about 200 hours on it. It was working fine, then idled rough for a few minutes then shut off while I was using the backhoe. Wouldn't start after that. Battery is good. Safety switches appear to be all correct. I did fine the fuse #2 burned and replaced. Prior owner must have as well as he used a 15 amp versus the 8. Looks like most posts recommend a resetting 10 amp which I'll look into if I can get it restarted. The tractor is in the field so may have to try pulling the solenoid, but unlike your picture there are many hoses etc in the way.

While I'm a very novice repairman I can generally trace things down. Hate to spend $125 for the solenoid and find out that wasn't the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Jack.
