New Holland TC35D
I have a TC35D which shuts down when outside temp gets above 85 and have been running tractor for awhile. Have replaced all fuses, new altenator, new switch, checked battery etc. NH shop has had it in but cannot find problem. After tractor cools down, it'll run again usually with no problems. Any other suggestions?

John, welcome to TBN. I'm not going to answer a specific tractor question here in this forum because this is just supposed to be a "meet and greet" forum. The TBN Administrator has asked that we keep those kinds of questions out of this forum. Please ask your question in the New Holland/Ford Owning forum or one of the General forums relating to operating or repair.:)

Thanks to the mod for moving this post.

John, once the tractor is running, there is only one thing that will stop a diesel engine. You have to turn off the supply of fuel. It could be having injector pump problems, but rarely would it cause the tractor to just shut off. My guess is that you are losing the electrical signal to the fuel cutoff solenoid and it is dropping out as if you had turned off the key. That can happen due to a faulty ignition switch, but the switch would also show up as no lights or dash operation if it failed. The other thing that can cause this problem is the operator safety system that consists of the operator seat switch, the operator safety module, and the parking brake switch. You could also have a bad fuel cutoff solenoid, but that can be tested easily by applying 12 volts with a jumper after the tractor quits. As a matter of fact, that's what I would do. I'd ask the dealer to check the fuel cutoff solenoid and operator safety module and seat switch circuit. If it is failing due to heat and then works again after awhile, I'd mostly suspect the Operator Safety Module.

Hey John, My tractor, TC40DA , was shuting down like yours. After it shut down I could turn the engine over but it would not start. It turned out that the operator safety module was bad. It is just a little plug in thing hanging from some wires next to the stering colum. I ordered one and it cost 60 bucks. I tested it with the service manuel info the dealer was nice enough to fax over to me. I would think your dealer would test each thing out before replacing it. It reminds me of what I did one time with a BMW I decided to try to fix myself. I replaced 1,000 dollars in parts and it still did not fix the problem.

Your problem is something simple...it's just a matter of finding the problem.
