I just had a Rhino 85 backhoe installed on my 2004 TC35DA and ever since the installation it wants to hang in reverse? I have the rear tires loaded and it really acts like a pig with all this weight. When I press the reverse pedal in I it will hang a little when I remove my foot. Sometimes it will pop up a split second later or remain hung until the forward pedel is tapped. This has proved a very dangerous problem due to the fact that I say stop it the tractor may or may not listen (acting like my 5 year old son) I looked under the tractor at the pedals and cannot see where it could be binding? I was told by the dealer who installed it that it may be a centering piston? I would be thankful for any input. The machine is still 40hrs new and I want to avoid taking it in for repair if it is somthing I can sort out on my own. I will post some picture of the tractor and some of the cool mods I have done soon...Thanks.

I have 2004 TC35DA ( 110 hrs)and it has done the same thing since about 20 hrs. There is a zerk fitting that may need some grease under the pedels. Dealer tried to correct it at 50 hr service and at 85 hrs but it still sticks occassionally in either direction.
I am up for suggestions too.

It's interesting that two new members of the forum are experiencing a very old and well-documented problem that New Holland has tried to fix. If you search this forum, you will find pages and pages written about the "sticky hydro pedal" problem.

Most folks fix this problem by one or a combination of the following three methods:

1. Keep your rpm up around 2000 when working your tractor. If you lug down the engine, the hydro pedals tend to not return to neutral.

2. Adjust the return spring for a quicker return. New Holland has increased the spring size and you should be able to adjust it by looking up under the right side of the operator's platform (Item 16 in the attachment).

3. Spray lube the roller on the actuator arm (item 26) and the bottom surface of the plate that looks like a "B" laying on its side (yellow highlight).

My guess is that when you added the backhoe, you placed more load on the tractor, and it takes more power to move. Be sure you are not using the hydro pedal as an accelerator pedal. If you push down more when the engine lugs down, you will only multiply your problem and the chance the pedal will not return to neutral.

Again, do a search for "sticky hydro pedals" or another long thread with the keyword "whoa" and you will surely find a lot of info to help you. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

What a shame, we though New Holland had put this problem to rest long ago and now I see more than one with the same complaint on a new DA model. I hope that it's just a minor adjustment to the return spring that does it for them Jim.
