2006 New Holland TC40
I have a 2 yr old TC 40A. It has 250 hrs with a manual transmission. Moving between Low and Medium is a real PITA. YOu have to try then tap it into position - really wasting time if you are moving dirt and constantly changing gears. I expected the problem was going to go away with wearage. Does anyone else have a similar problem? I had brought this to the attention of the dealer during a service and he said it was working fine!!

I've got a 2004 TC40A and the range lever is a little cranky moving in/out of mid-range but it's the kind of thing you develop a feel for and compensate. More often than not it wants to hang in a neutral position between gears but nothing serious. My tractor has about 280 hours.

You might find it easier to shift the range selector if you put the gear shift in neutral. Just a thought that may or may not apply to your machine.
