Oil & Fuel TC40 Fuel Filter

Does anyone know of a better fuel filter holder for the TC40. I'm getting tired of taking the whole filter off and then bleeding the fuel system just to get rid of water. On larger tractors they have a drain screw. Does anyone make anything like that will fit on the TC-40?

None of the bleeding is hard, I just hate getting diesel fuel all over the place when removing the filter. Thanks for any repsonse you all may have!

Jim, my TC 40D is three years old and I've yet to drain the filter because there was no need. Are you really having that much trouble with water. If so, you may want to consider some different fuel handling or storage means to minimize the moisture. Otherwise, how about installing a draincock in the plastic bowl?

The problem is the water, not the fuel bowl. Proper fuel handling will reduce filter maintainence to the recommended interval or longer. If you are trapping that much water in the bowl, you should change the filter each time you dump the water out. Your fuel habits should be good enough to eliminate the need for draining the bowl between filter change intervals.

Gotta agree with Rick on this. While we do replace the fuel filter at the recommended intervals, never have we seen water in the bowl. We pump our fuel from a bulk oil tank with a spin on filter to trap dirt and water before it reaches the tank.

Why not try a Mr. Funnel if you have water in the diesel when you purchase it?

When I change my fuel filter I leave the locking ring (whatever you call it, the ring that you twist to hold the plastic fuel bowl on) loose when I turn on the fuel petcock. As the fuel comes in the air bleeds out past the loose ring. When all the air is gone then I real quick tighten the ring that last little bit. If there is any air left then the autobleed system must take care of it.
