I would like to add a grapple attachment to my TC40. Any suggestions as brand, cost, setup, etc. I am relatively new to modern tractors usage. Used a Ford 601 Workmaster since a teenager. Thanks for any advice.

I've been quite pleased with the AnBo Grapple Rake for logs and slash and even large rocks. Check out www.anbomanufacturing.com Very nice people to deal with and quite accomodating.

This type is not a bucket attachment, it attaches directly to your FEL arms.

Not sure where you're writing from, but I got a quote about a month ago from a manufacturer just west of Mpls/St. Paul MN.

He's sweating out the steel surcharges for now, but at the time he quoted me $1800 for a grapple set up. His website is www.hhfab.com. I bought a pallet fork from him for $575. So far, so good.

Seems there's a ton of people manufacturing attachments. Good luck in your search. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Many thanks for ref. You are using this on a TC30? (Not sure what a PT-1845 is). Which of their grapples are you using? Looked at some (other brands) but when you subtract the weight of the unit from the lift of the loader you don't have much left - I have a TC40.

Thank you again. Would like to have one of these.

JEH,

I am using the AnBo 5' GRL lightweight version on a Power Trac Model 1845 low-profile articulated hydraulic tractor for wildfire mitigation on steep slopes in Colorado. The grapple rake weighs about 375lbs. My lift is rated 1200 lbs, and I have never not been able to lift and carry anything I have picked up. If I were to do it over again, I might even go the next size up to be able to grab a larger bunch of slash per load.

Some of the add-on grapple arms that attach to a regular bucket may well work for various intermittant general purpose work, but for a lot of tree & slash/brush work a dedicated grapple rake is hard to beat. AnBo can provide the grapple with the proper brackes to attach directly to your FEL arms or with quick attach brackets as you specify. You will need an auxilliary hyd circuit for any grapple of course.

There is a Power Trac forum on this board under Other Brands.

I'm looking for the same thing as you. I'm torn between a grapple bucket and grapple attachment. Virnig makes an attachment designed for the 16L bucket but its about $900 (includes shipping). I also like the grapple at this company www.qualityweldingservice.com
they priced it for $350.00 (grapple, cylinder and hose) but you have to install (weld) the hinges.
I really like the Anbo GRL that replaces the bucket. It weighs about 500# leaving about 1500 of lift. But @$2800 I cant justify the purchase. Let me know what you come up with.

May spend the money on a welder.

Rip:

Thanks. Sounds like your Power Track 1845 is a bit smaller than the TC40. 375 lbs M/L for the attachment weight is light enough to give me 1500 lbs of lift which is fine. Talked to a guy (by name of Anderson) yesterday at AnBo and he is sending me lit & price list 1st of wk. Have one rear remote so would only have to add lines (or long hoses) to the front. Have the skid steer/quick attach which is great - I switch between pallet forks & bucket all the time. 1 minute. Don't want to weld/bolt etc any implements (front or rear) that ties the implement to the tractor - can use QT front implements on skid steer or etc or 3pt on any other tractor. You can use the pallet forks (close together) for lifting brush & etc, but the grapple sounds much better and would allow picking up rocks & etc. as well as reaching down when in the dump position. 5' width sounds fine as longer trunks could be lifted centered. Sorta like having a remote "hand" except it doesn't rotate.

Anyway, Rip, many thanks for the ref. Appreciate it. Hope you're having a nice thanksgiving. Take care.

JEH,

Thanks for the good wishes.... we did have a very nice Thanksgiving at the "out-laws" (former in-laws) and hope you had a good one as well.

With your TC-40 you may want to consider the "full-size" 5 ft model as it can grab a bigger fist-full of slash or brush. In any event, they make a well designed and sturdy product that I have been well pleased with.

Good Luck whichever way you go.

Dad has the 5 1/2' light weight grapple on order for his TC40DA. Should arrive sometime in Dec. I'll be sure to post a user report if the snow doesn't come first....

Enjoy the CDROM video Anbo sent you /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
