TC40 safety recall

several months ago a safety recall came out on the TC40 reference a PTO issue. There was a post on this forum about it, mostly wondering how it was going to be handled, and what all it involved.

Has anybody any further information on this. My dealer has never gotten back with me and an email to NH told me to contact my dealer. After telling NH my dealer was non-responsive NH became non-responsive.

Sam, My TC40DA is the dealership getting the PTO brake kit installed. My dealer wanted it a month ago but I had the cab on wanted to wait. The tractor is supposed to back home later today. I spoke with one of the service Technicians and was told it takes just under 3 hours for the job. He said much of the time is spent removing and reattaching the seat and platform.

I have a great New Holland dealer. He never hesitated to come and pick up the tractor. I only live 8 miles from the dealership but am glad I don't have to haul my tractor for warranty service.

Through some PM's, I was told by a tech that the affected serial numbers appear to be 524944 through 604974, and include Class III and some Class IV tractors. A post by techinNY describes the physical situation that identifies the problem.

The serial number range is NOT all inclusive. That is to say not all units within the range need the update. If you did not get a letter, you most likely do not need the update. The info supplied to the dealers contains a detailed serial number list. If your tractor's serial number is not on the list, it is unlikely that NH will pay for the updated parts.
