tc40 wont restart

very puzzling tractor it was working fine shut dwn for lunch and wont restart checked all safety switches and fuses everything seems fine i read something about the pto light mine is on is this an issue if so how can i fix this any help is greatly needed

Is it turning over at all? If so is there any effort for it to fire up? Checked your fuel float or sight bowl to make sure it isn't clogged up? Do you have a fuel kill switch? Clutch switch? Not being familiar with that machine so I can't tell you what other gotcha's could be lurking. Like one guys signature says for a diesel, "Suck--squeeze***bang!" that's all it takes to make them run. tractor wont turn over at all dash lights come on but when you turn the key nothings happens is there a fuse problem i am not seeing?

Sounds like your battery is dead or very poor connections would be the first place to look. See if the battery is dry inside if you can open it. If you have a voltmeter see what voltage you have on the battery as well.

I don't know enough about your machine. But my guess is there is a defeat switch to keep it from starting with the PTO engaged. Could be a funky switch. The battery is new from how long ago? And the battery cables are clean where they connect to the chassis and the starter? It doesn't take much for them not to turn over.

If there is something wrong with your pto switch and it thinks its on it will not start. I wish I knew how to tell you to bypass it but I don't. sorry. I guess your pto lever is all the way forward?

Check your fuses.I think it is fuse #2. A lot of guys replace the blown fuse with a circuit breaker, and there is a wiring mod that will prevent the fuse blowing. Check in the New Holland forum for the details.

G'day my guess is a bad pto switch bit of a prob with NH for a while but new supplier meant better switches
