TC40 won't start

Battery is fine. Starter is turning engine over. Solenoid light is out(or possibly telling me solonoid is not working?) Fuel filter is fine and fuel runs into the filter basin without a problem. I unhooked a couple of the small gray lines to the valve cylinders to try and flush air out of the lines( this was recommended by a friend) but no air or Diesel came out of the line. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Ed

Welcome!

There is a fuel shut off solenoid (why the engine stops when you turn off the ignition key, and gets fuel to start when cranking), a relay that operates the solenoid, and a fuse for the relay circuit.

Most of the similar problems in the past have been the fuse or relay.

From the manual for my TC40DA. To start you must have 1. PTO lever in off position, 2. Range lever in neutral position, and 3. Operator in the seat or the parking brake engaged. If you have 1 & 2 but no operator in the seat or the parking brake not set the engine will turn over but not start as the fuel solenoid is not energized. Cycle all the levers and sit in the seat with the parking brake on. I have had one of the levers bumped slightly out of position or the brake not fully engaged and mine not start.

If you haven't checked the fuses behind the instrument cluster, I'd do that first. #3 likes to go out. To check the operation of the fuel solenoid, unplug the spade connector and unscrew the solenoid. By turning the key on and off you can check operation of the plunger. If it starts with the solenoid removed and disconnected, it' a bad solenoid. If it does start, you 'll have to reinstall the solenoid to turn it off.
