Hi all....Brand new to this forum. I am purchasing a 2003 TC40D with the 16 FEL and the 758 Backhoe......Has 920 hours on it.

Now the big question.......The PTO shifter was stuck but got that going. The 3PH does not operate. The pressure line to the BH comes from the loader valve and the return goes into a fitting next to the rear remotes. How would I get the 3PH to work? Very frustrating. Owner bought it as a BH and has owned it for over 10 years. Deal is contingent on the 3PH working.

Both the FEL and back how work great. Other forums say that once you disconnect the BH you have to do a few things to get the 3PH working again.

Any ideas?

Look forward to getting a solution here....Thanks

Disconnect the hose feeding the backhoe somewhere in front of the right rear wheel. Find an unused mating coupler on the diverted valve below and in front of the right side pedals and connect the hose leading from the loader valve to it. Do this with the engine shut off. Don’t re start unless the hose leading from the loader valve is securely connected to either the backhoe or diverted valve.

Great...I was thinking this would be it but was confused on some schematics that I found. So the PB line from the loader valve goes to PB "A" on the diverter valve. Do I have to turn the diverter from 11 to 1 Oclock?

Thanks for your help.

Could you explain how this gets hydraulics to the 3pt? I would like to understand it. Thanks

The 3 Point gets its flow from the diverter valve. You do not move the diverter valve spool. Doing so will disable the loader and backhoe.

And, have the loader bucket/implement on the ground before disconnecting anything. Move loader lever in all directions before hose disconnect to reduce pent up pressure in the lines too. Use gloves and safety glasses. Any hydraulic fluid under pressure can cut bare skin like butter, and in worse cases lead to need to amputate affected skin.
Mark hose connection locations with colored cable ties and draw out a location diagram for the most used hoses in various diverter ports for hoe or 3PH, etc. for future reference. Cap/plug both ports and hose ends to keep dirt out. Dirt kills hydraulics....

That was the correct fitting. And yes, always careful around hydraulics.

I don't believe the 3ph has ever been used since new in 2003. Is there any maintenance that I should do?

Use it. Then repair any failures. Congrats on a good purchase. Welcome to TBN.
