Well I have been cruising the post in here about this problem and have went on some of the advice by replacing #2 fuse with a 20amp still no start just click at the solenoid. I removed the starter and cleaned the terminals but still just click. The pto light doesnt' come on either so I would say the fuses are good. When I turn the key on it will give one good solid click at the solenoid but then it does a strange humming sound down around the fuse block area. I ran the tractor just fine the day before and parked it in the shop. I have jumped the battery and it seems to work fine. I don't know what else to do unless check all the interlocks, but if they were messed up then the starter wouldn't click would it?

It could be the battery if one of the cells dies you will not get enough energy to activate the starter. If you have a volt meter one way to test is turn on the lights and check the voltage it should read above 12 volts. if it reads 10.6 or some other number replace the battery.

Make sure you clean all battery connections and make sure ground wire from battery to frame connection is clean. Check all connections to make sure they are all clean. I would remove one fuse at a time and make sure all connections are clean, do same for all relays.

Will starter spin if you remove it from engine?

I took starter off and cleaned the connections on it and just spun it by hand. I should have just put the battery to it to test it, but I reinstalled and still did the same thing. It makes a hard click once so I can hear the solenoid engage it just wont turn. It seems like the battery, but I don't have a multimeter to test it. I guess I can pull it and take it to oreillys to test it. I turned the lights on last night afterwork and they looked a little dim and really dim when I turned the ignition.

A multimeter is a very handy tool for these occasions. Harbor Freight has a little meter for less than $3. I'm sure Radio Shack has a cheapy too that will do just fine.

You can use a jumper between the hot wire from your battery and the solenoid on your starter to bypass the ignition and start relay. That's what I do to check the starter.

As Dave suggested, with our humid weather, you could have dirty battery terminals, but normally dirty terminals will cause a complete loss of power from the battery rather than just dimming of lights. My guess is you might have a weak battery. Do you have a set of jumper cables so you could use another vehicle to jump start the tractor? Trying a jumpstart might tell you all you need to know. If it won't jumpstart, I would certainly take the starter out and test it on the bench. Be sure to secure it before testing. The torque could cause it to jump a bit.

Thanks Jinman, I just took the battery to oreillys and they initially tested it with their hand held and it read 12.8v but only 67% capacity then they put it on their charger and I waited about ten minutes then it said it failed to charge due to deep discharge and the printout said bad. But they wanted 105.00 to replace it. I told them I would think about it surely I can find one cheaper elsewhere. I would have tried to jump start it but the way the tractor was parked I couldn't get to it inside the shop to get cables on it. I will try a new battery tomorrow.

I just sold my Kubota; have a TC40DA coming Saturday.

I had to get a new battery for the Kubota to sell it. Dog gone, I was amazed by battery prices  Still found one on sale at NAPA for $60. They had them on sale. Kragen/Oriely was about $20 more for same size/month battery(Group 24).

But they wanted 105.00 to replace it. I told them I would think about it surely I can find one cheaper elsewhere. I would have tried to jump start it but the way the tractor was parked I couldn't get to it inside the shop to get cables on it. I will try a new battery tomorrow.

My money is on the ignition, replaced mine twice already. On an '04. Apparently its not a good design.
Turn your key all the way and wiggle it back and forth and see if it will turn over.

If you got a good solid click at the solenoid, but no starter action, then it's probably a bad solenoid. Take your positive jumper cable and touch the lug on the starter - not the lug on the solenoid, the lug on the starter. If the starter spins then you know it's the solenoid...
