So,I've finally reached the end of my rope on this tractors ignition problems.Pic one is of 4 of the 7 that I have bought.Nice huh? 1300 hours and its chewed up 8 ignition switches.Pic 2 Is of the new keys that will be needed to start it from now on.The ignition is for a cat IT28 loader, and will hopefully be the end of this ordeal.

Wow! Normally, I'd say that with four switches, you need to look for what is making them go bad, but your CAT switch will surely show if there is something on the tractor sending an inductive spike and wiping out the switch. I have 1770 hours on my TC45D that sits out uncovered in all weather. My switch has always performed flawlessly. I'm sorry you are having these issues. I hope you have replaced your last ignition switch.

thclimer,
I saw you're thread on that and I was a heartbeat away form buying one, then I realized that If I wanted anyone to pick up my tractor for any reason I would have no chance of them having an ignition key, with the cat key, most if not all of the people that would need to start it will have a key on them.
ihfarm,
I hear you about getting mad about one of them going bad ihfarm, especially when you open one up and look in it.Can you say cheap!Unfortunately for me they usually went south on me during times when I had no other option like going out to plow snow or push back snow banks both of which pay for the new switch in less than an hours work.It was looked at by the dealer several times,to no avail.

Thanks Jinman,I sure hope it cures it as well. It's a very heavy duty switch heavily built and 24 volt rated so I think it is going to take care of the issue.7 of the 8 ignitions were distorted internally from heat and eventually you couldn't physically turn the key any more. The eighth one went bad and I couldn't shut the machine off.

I had the same problem and replaced it with a Napa switch. Haven't had any problems since. Hope this ends your problem. You planning on mounting those old high quality plastic switches:laughing: I threw mine all away.

WOW. I hate to think OEM parts are that cheap these days.

I am reworking a old ford tractor and have heard story's about the china copy's of the key switch. I just rebuilt 2 original ford switches, one wouldn't turn off the ign, the other wouldn't turn on the ign.

Both cruddy on the inside but one came apart inside, JB weld epoxy to the rescue.
And 40+yo Lucas switches
