Something just started in the last week. I turn off the tractor, get it to do some work and when I go to restart it, nothing happens.

I wait for the glowplugs and then turn the key and nothing occurs - no turnover or anything.

This is not an issue of the PTO control slipping a little, the tractor is in neutral, parking break set.

I turn it off, wait a few seconds, a try again. On the second to fourth try -it starts.

I've tried moving the PTO lever, shifting in/out of gear and released/set the parking break. Did each one individually and does not seem to make a difference. I even lifted myself off the seat and then sat down to see if that what was causing it.

No matter what I did, I find that if I simply do nothing, turn it on/off a few times, it will start.

Looking for a starting point to help with diagnosis.

Yep! BTDT, got the t-shirt, joined the focus group, etc., etc. . . .

Find something to rap on the starter solenoid lightly. I use the handle of a crescent hammer. . .err. . .wrench. Yeah, that's the ticket.;)

On my tractor, it comes and goes. I've not had a problem in over 6 months. I think the solenoid was just sticking.

Too easy...thanks for the thought. Was hoping it was something that simple.
