Hello! I have found this forum to be the best on the net for solving problems with my TC40DA but have run into one that even following all the pointers here that I found with the search engine haven't fixed.
A prior owner jumpered the PTO safety switch and the terminals eventually became corroded. Because my kids are running all the equipment I thought I would reconnect the 4-terminal pigtail to the switch. When reconnected, it would work only as long as I continued pressing the pigtail in by hand. Multiple cleanings failed to get an adequate connection. Consequently, I noted the wire numbers, clipped the wires and installed new spade terminals and reconnected. When I did, the PTO light would no longer shut off in any position or when the switch was pressed by hand.
I previously installed a circuit breaker in fuse position number 2 and have also tried a fuse. The switch tested fine. Switched out the PTO relay with another; no change and tested the relay with a 12 volt source; closed just fine.
Unfortunately, my owners manual wiring diagram only shows two wires going to the safety switch and I have four (two white, two orange), two numbers that match the book and two that aren't anywhere in the book. Only one of the white wires are hot with the key on.
Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated.
