I am still waiting on my manaul, so trying to figure out the proper use of the the 3pt stabilizer bars. On my first try with a box blade, I pinned both bars and had a tough time getting the pins out. Is it better to pin one side? Pounding the pins out doesn't seem to like a good idea.

Thanks

If your talking about the same thing as on my TC29D and if I am reading you right I typically will move the box blade back and forth to get the pins out. I sometimes even move it a bit to get the pins in. But I am afraid you are talking about something else. I have a pin on each arm to hold them in place, is this what you have?

Yep, two arms with holes and slots. I bet you are correct. I should be removing the pins before lowering the implement to unhook. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Thanks,

Yep! You figured it out, Barry. You should always have the implement in the air when setting the stabilizers. Sometimes you can get one pinned before you raise the implement, but it's always easier to do it in the air.

Also, I find it strange that your dealer hasn't given you an Owners Manual yet. Doesn't he have other tractors like yours on the lot? Couldn't he give you one off another tractor or make copies? Operating a tractor without the proper manual is just not something you should be doing. That being said, the manuals instructions on using the stabilizers is nonexistent. As a matter of fact, I've found most instructions in the manual to be pretty "lame." But you do need it for lube instructions and it does have good instructions about the layout of switches and controls. It's funny, but there are a couple of pages relating to use of the swinging drawbar, but nothing about hooking up the 3PH. Go figure. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

The dealer is coming tomorrow to pick up the tractor. He is supposed to return it on Friday with the BH. I won't be here tomorrow, so I'm going to leave him a note reminding him that I need a new joystick, wheel weights and the owners manual.

I agree with you on the importance of manuals. I'll sell the 4000 with the owner and service manuals.

Not sure about the dealer. He is located in a small farming community and said he was just starting to sell more CUTs than big tractors.

Always glad to add a little joy /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif. Should I try to explain and let everyone have more fun? They delivered my tractor without the deluxe joystick.

Yep, insert and remove while in the air. Also, I found that the way NH attached the chain to the pin always interfered with my hand in getting the pin out. On both pins, I squeezed the first chain link, the one that attached to the pin, so that I could better get my hand around the pin top to pull it out. I think I scratched the pin up or chipped off the plating because I recall putting some gold spray paint back on the link and where it was welded to the pin.

More recently I discoved something called "Super Lube" dri-film lubricant. This spray on lube contains PTFE and maybe some wax or other lubricant. It sprays on wet, but dries within a few seconds and leaves a very dry slippery coating. I've use this on the pins and also on the lower three point arm extension mechanism. On these, the extensions quickly now slide back into the normal position as soon as I pick up the implement. Other dri-lubes I've tried still seem to leave a wet residue, but not this stuff. Trouble is, I can't seem to find it locally anymore.
