tc40da tech issues. electrical.

Hello, im very new to the forum. Haven't actually had a ton of time to check things out. I have an 06 tc40da I just purchased.

I have couple of issues that may all be tied together and I wanted your thoughts......all of these just started.

Brand new battery installed today, however my battery light is still on? Bad alternator?

When I turn on pto my rpm gauge drops to nothing or goes to full blast one or the other.

My cruise control and hi low doesn't function anymore, although the indicator lights still light up?

Any ideas? Places to start?

Any water intrusion could cause your electrical system to go haywire all at once. Have you removed and disconnected the instrument cluster recently? If so I would make sure it was re-connected properly. Even though the connectors are made to connect only one way,they can be connected backwards. If it's connected properly,I would blow out lightly with air the harness end and the back of the cluster. If that still doesn't solve your issues,I would remove the LH lower console and remove the relays and again blow out each connection. I would also apply dialectric grease to all relay connections at this time.

While you have the console off,I'd also check for water in the main/rear main harness connectors.

You said you just got this TC40DA. Have you cleaned it recently? The alternator not charging is what makes the battery light come on. It is also responsible for sending the tachometer signal to the instrument panel. I would do as Wrenchguy suggested and also have your alternator checked as a starting point. Do you have a voltmeter? Can you use the meter and do basic troubleshooting?
