My local dealer is pricing a TC45 4WD, Woods FEL, Woods medium duty 5' cutter, and a Woods 6' box blade at $20,905 before tax. Does this sound fair? I've also looked at Kubota's 4310 and 3710 and John Deere's 4300. I seem to keep coming back to the boomer because of price though. I'm about to buy 8 acres of Louisiana clear cut for my future home. It is high ground though. Any suggestions as far as brands, hp, gear or hst, and dealing with dealers would be greatly appreciated!!! I'm a rookie when it come to tractors but my Dad is a veteran so I think I'll be O.K. Thanks In Advance!!!

Sounds like a right price to me - I just took delivery on a TC45 4WD w/FEL, the Woods 600 Brushbull, Woods 6' box blade and a 1160 post hole digger - I had some other add-ons too that boosted my price to almost $24000. Can I ask why a Woods loader instead of a 16LA NH? I got the 16LA and absolutely love it. Taking it off and on took me 2 - 3 minutes the first time I tried. I figure that'll improve with practice. I would make one suggestion - get the adjustable links on the 3 pt. They are standard on a TC45D but are extra on the straight 45 BUT well worth the money! I work alone and hooking up implements is sure a lot easier with those links. I also added a folding ROPS, toolbox, cup holder, and hyd top link which meant adding on the SCV for it. AND whatever FEL you get - get a HD bucket for it. Mine is HD with tooth bar that pops small stumps like dandelions.

Sounds like a nice set-up. I agree with mikim re: the adjustable links. They make a big difference when hooking attachments up.

I run a TC45D/R4s, 16LA FEL w/72" HD bucket, 74" Bushhog tiller, 6' scraper blade, 6' BH finish mower, 6' Bushhog (priced out about $25,000 pre-tax. Have about 50 acres to play on (18-20 field/pasture, rest wooded). Have around 30 hours on the TC45 and love it so far.

I'm pretty new to compact world, spent several months researching the brands, talking to dealers, farmers and a landscaper or two. Wear a brace on right leg/foot, so was pretty sure HST would not work for me, however, turns out it works better for me than gears. Use it on several hills around edges of pasture and have not had any bad experiences, though as a newby I use the slow mode when testing in new places.

FEL has turned out to be the best investment I made. Use it for everything. When looking at different brands I had decided on something in the 35-40 HP range, but virtually everyone I spoke to (farmers, etc..) said that if I could swing it, go with the 45 HP as it might keep me from having to trade up in a few years.

I had no "color loyalty" to start with and all the brands I looked at: JD, NH, Case/IH, MF and Kubota all seemed to have good products, dealer support for each is readily available here in SW Indiana (though MF is spread pretty thin). The NH dealer just went the extra mile to make it an easy decision for me. Good luck to you!
