I have a slow leak at the PTO on my 2003 TC45. I went to Messick's and got the seal and the gasket and I'm planning to replace these this week when I change the fluid.
I've never pulled the PTO shaft on this (or any) tractor before and I'm hoping someone can educate me on what I need to do. I saw a few YouTube videos for other tractors but it seemed like in each one there were folks in the comments basically telling the poster that he'd done it wrong and made it harder on himself... maybe so.

Have you done this? Any tips or things to avoid?

Thanks much,
Matt

For the TC45 it was basically an exercise in taking off 4 bolts on the plate surrounding the PTO and then prying it off. It took some time to get that plate to separate but it eventually did.
Then I cleaned off the old gasket residue and took a slotted screwdriver and removed the old seal. I cleaned up the plate with some WD40, dried it off and then used a large socket from my 1" socket set and a hammer to tap the seal down into the plate. I put on the new gasket and tightened up the bolts. I did all this after draining the hydraulic fluid for my 1000 hour maintenance. Ran out of time today but I'll fire it up tomorrow and check for leaks.

Good job! Thanks for following up for others to know how to do this on their TC45’s.
