i have a tc45da and the steering was acting odd, then all of a sudden i have no steering. if i raise the front wheels off the ground the wheels will turn a bit but not much, the steering wheel turns and you can feel a slight pulsation, reservoir full. i loosened the output line from pump and oil drips out of it but no great pressure. any idea how much these pumps should produce ?
thanks luc

Your steering pump should pump around 4 to 4.5 gpm. It sounds like the input shaft has sheared off or some other catastrophic failure of the pump.

Is there a pressure releif valve in the steering that could be stuck open.

not sure if theres a releif valve, i dont have service manual, i'm going to remove return line and see how much is coming out

Sounds bad, at least the power steering pump is the first thing on the front
of the timing gear cover. When you mentioned you loosened the line, I am
assuming the engine was running? I am guessing the pressure is in the 500 -
1500 psi range. All the pressurized lines are metal tubing so I am guess
decent pressure.

Check the PS pump drive gear, sometimes the pump drive hub breaks off.

After checking my repair manual, the gpm of the PS system is 5.3 gpm. The pressure on a non-supersteer tractor is 1400-1500 psi and a little over 2000 psi on a SS model. The pressure is adjustable on the steering motor under the steering wheel where the relief valve is located. The relief valve is screw adjustable, but most likely not an issue with the OP's problem.

The pump input from the reservoir is gravity flow. I'd check that that line is not plugged, and then if not, start pulling the PS pump as the most likely culprit. The pump is not rebuildable except for a seal kit. If parts are broken, you have to replace the entire pump according to the Repair Manual.

With tractor off can you turn steering wheel ? And if so do wheels turn ?

The short answer is yes, but it is work. I would not recommend trying to do this in any normal operational environment.

The answer from the Repair Manual is:

"MANUAL OPERATION
In the event of a power steering pump failure or engine shutdown, the steering system can be operated manually.
Turning the steering wheel drives the rotor and fixed ringn gear pump in the control valve assy to force fluid to the power steering cylinders according to the direction the steering wheel is being turned."

A check valve unseats to allow fluid as needed from the reservoir.

Mine turns easily with a slight pulsation, thinking it's in the control box now
