TC45D Supersteer,
We are about to purchase either a TC45, JD 4700, or Kubota L4610 with loader, backhoe, 4wd, either turf or R-4 tires. One NH dealer recommends Supersteer, another doesn't. Same with turf tires. We've listened to dealers and read their literature. Now I'm asking real owners. Why one over the other? What finally made the decision for you? What features didn't you get that you should have? What sounded good at time of purchase, but turned out to be a waste of money? What would you do different the next time?

Dealers have all been around a long time. Prices are comparable. Wife and I are partial to blue, but not too proud to own orange or green if that's what works out.

Thanks for the advice/ideas/opinions.

Bill,
The NH has three good points which I like.
1. Swivel seat, which is great when operation rear attachments.
2.Supersteering,great for getting around in the woods etc..
3.The hood, for one can get a better view while useing the FEL.

I do like my Kubota very much, but to trade a NH dealer will have to really sharpen his or her pencil. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Will your local three dealer let you try these machine out?

Take care and enjoy this /w3tcompact/icons/cool.gif autumn days.

BillinECIN,

I recently compared the TC40 and JD4600. (Could not find a Kubota dealer in my area) Purchased the TC40D w/supersteer after much deliberation.

Went with the NH for the following reasons:
- Attitude/friendliness of dealer, seemed to want my business
- Price for features
- Operator comfort
- Wife liked it and as a result is willing to use it
- Swivel seat
- SuperSteer!

If you are going to be using a loader and backhoe then I would assume that you don't plan to mow grass with it, in which case I would definitely go with the R4 tires. The bars on the R4 are large enough to keep the tractor from sinking in the lawn unless the lawn is too soft or wet. R4 has a slightly thicker tire which seems to be more resistant to punctures and also has the additional ability to "sink-in" when in soft material to give better traction. In all fairness, I read that others on this board use turfs with chains and get the best of both worlds.

In answer to the previous postings:

John Deere dealer has offered to let me try one out. Others haven't yet. Seemed like a good idea. I'd like to. Will approach them about it when I'm more sure which I'd prefer.

I perhaps didn't give enough information in my original posting. Tractor will be used mainly for mowing. Loader and backhoe will spend much more time off the machine than on it. Salesmen are aware of this, and no clear cut preference in tires.

All nice machines, if your going with HST transmission, there is one that is heads above the others. The NH's SuperSteer sounds like a great option, the swivel seat nice. If your opting for the HST, give the NH and JD a hard look as well as a hard test. "carverequipment.com" once had a test you could administer to check out the hydrostatic transmission, check into it (ask Steve Carver if you don't find it). If you want the smoothest, quietest and durable HST of these 3 great tractors, the L 4610HST will be your choice. Rat...

Re: TC45 vs 4700 v10

Hey iam looking at basically the same rigs as you. i have received quotes on the 4610hst with loader at 22000and some change. the 45 with shuttle and fel at 20700 all 4wd. what kinda prices are you getting? so far i like the new holland best, as mentioned early price per options is better then the others. All though i would love a john deere in the 5105 with above mentioned options but it blows the budget..

Re: TC45 vs 4700 v10

One other thing the dealers should be jumpimng through hoops to let you on every piece of equipment they got. especially this time of year. If they dont offer tell them or go some where else if possible. Here the dealers Ive been to have been going out of there way to helpme. good Luck

Re: TC45 vs 4700 v10

John,
Looks like prices I got were a little higher than yours, but hard to compare exactly. TC45 with loader, shuttle, no Supersteer was $21,550. 4700, loader, hydro, backhoe $32,250. Prices are couple of months old. Need to get them updated as things continue to come together. Kubota dealer told me none of the compacts would work with 6' rotary mower, and I'd have to go to M series at about same price as others.

Re: TC45 vs 4700 v10

BillinECIN, the 4700 will handle a 6' rotary cutter according to their brochure.

Re: TC45 vs 4700 v10

Hey about the 6' cutter my new holland dealer was at the house the other day and looked at my 6' cutter and said it would be a great match. He just happened to notice it. By the way i have a med duty rhino. (pretty heavy)
