TC45D FINIAL DRIVE GEAR RATIO\'S

Hello all, I am a soon to be owner of a new TC45DA.
I am new to the TBN and this is my first post. I am not happy with the tires that my local dealer is offering as stock equipment. I am trying to calculate the proper size tires required for a mfwd tractor and have found many formulas for doing so. I am thinking of using a set of Michelin AG tires but I have not decided on which model yet.
What I need to know is the finial drive gear ratio's, so I can apply the formula to get the proper lead %.
This will help me decide which model tires will work for me.

Thanks,
Ron.

Re: TC45D FINIAL DRIVE GEAR RATIO\'S

I'm not sure how New Holland does it now, but in the Service Bulletins for my 2120 they specify a ratio for "Compact Tractor FWD Front/Rear Ratio" which is in fact a ratio calculated by "Measuring from the center of the front axle to the ground Front Distance A" and from the center of the rear axle to ground Rear distance "B". The ratio is calculated by diving B/A. Obviously B and A are the radius of the tire so since the circumference is just 2 pi times the radius thus B/A is also the ratio of the circumferences. For a 2120 it is 1.63 to 1. Other examples are 1920 1.66 to 1. It also talks about making fine adjustments by varying tire pressures. I have a table of ratios and possible tire combinations for all of Ford/ New Holland 10 and 20 series compacts. If you tell me what the present tire combination is on the TC45 (R1's) they may match one of the prior models sizes and I can get you the ratio and possible a few other tire combinations. If they are not listed in my table, I'm sure your dealer would have a table like this. If would be much easier and more accurate than doing it via circumference rations with slippage factors.

Hopefully this will be of some help.

Andy

Re: TC45D FINIAL DRIVE GEAR RATIO\'S

Ron, I've checked both my Operator's Manual and my Repair Manual and there is nothing related to final drive ratio that I can find. There are lots of tire size recommendations, but nothing speaking directly to final drive ratio. Maybe someone in your dealer's service department could help, but you might have to write to NH for that info. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Ron sometimes we get so involved around here with questions that we forget to welcome the new TBN members.

Welcome to the TBN site.

I might suggest that when you get a spare minute to fill out your bio. That information helps other members to assist you with your future posts.

Re: TC45D FINIAL DRIVE GEAR RATIO\'S

Check out the thread entitled: XM27 Tires on a L4610. In it there are posts by MChalkley describing different tires. Mark knows more about tires and tire sizing ratios than anyone I've seen posting over the past three years. Your might send him a private message asking your questions - unfortunately he doesn't come to TBN much (other than the "Other Tractors" and "Kubota Owning" forums). I think that the amount of effort he expended writing his posts overwhelmed him once this forum grew so large.

You might also search for "XM27 Michelin tires" and find more information on this subject.
