My hydrostatic sticks in the fwd poss. you can here the trans whine and the tractor creap fwd. If you bump the rev pedal it will stop whining and creaping fwd. Has any one else had the problem and what fixed it.

1. Lubricate roller wheel on "bean shaped" HST pedal plate.

2. Increase spring tension adjustment on pedal returns.

3. Don't use ground-engaging implements with <2200 rpm.

Ditto on what Chris said...clean, lube, and keep rpm above 2000...adjust if necessary.

If the pedal always returns to the same spot and the tractor just creeps, then it might be a pedal position adjustment, but the clean and lube is a first step.

4. I think there is a higher tension return spring set available also - don't know the part number.

I'm no longer sure the lube is doing much if anything after furhter observation of my 40D. As it turns out the roller has what appears to be a sealed roller bearing. Therefore, any lube applied is not actually getting into the roller, and in between the roller and the kidney-shaped piece the best lube could do is make it slide rather than roll. Not sure that would help any.

As I still had a couple of slight sticking occasions this winter, I'm going to see if I can inject oil or grease beyond the seal, maybe with a hypodermic needle or something similar. My spring has just about reached it's limit, so maybe I'll take it the rest of the way or look at the placement of a more strategic spring too.

Slide or roll doesn't matter, its the fact that the plate returns to the neutral position that is important.

Using >2200 rpm for ground engagment or heavy pulling is important. Lower rpms do not allow the charge pump to generate enough pressure to actuate the transmission. This is a very rough paraphrase of what others had posted in the past, and they may chime-in here with a more accurate description. Search for RickB's posts within the NH forums for more accurate descriptions - I just remember to keep the rpms up.
