This forum has been a great source in helping me make my tractor buying decision. Lots of opions but good advice as well. So after trying more tractors than I can remember, I'm zeroing in on a TC45D with supersteer for my 60 acre horse farm. I was down to the Kubota MX5000 for HP or the 45 for ergonomics. JD was a third choice but pricier. I'm going with the 45 supersteer because of the tight places I need to get at and the 45 seems easier and safer to operate for the barn help. I got a price of $28,200 which includes the 17la loader, chain hooks, loaded rear tires, R4s brush guard and a LandPride 72" heavy duty cutter (RCR2672). The price includes the tax.

What do you think? Any thing I shoul get now that would be more expensive later? Mostly, I'll be bush hogging, grading and dragging arenas and hauling manuer.

Might want your dealer to throw in a truckload of Pinetree air freshners to hang off your ROPs! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Sounds like you have it covered. supersteer will take a bit of getting used to when using the loader in close places (turn left bucket shifts right kind of thing) but it'll do you a fine job.

One thing you might consider is getting rear remotes so you can have Top & Tilt on your grader for dragging the arenas, you won't believe how handy that will be.

I too am very close to purchase and in my other thread Tim made a good point regarding sales tax. If you intend to use the equipment for a farm you need not pay sales tax. This is quite a sum here in NY state. I spoke with my NH dealer and he said that one of the final moves that Clinton made as he was leaving office was to change the definition of a farm to either the cultivation of 2+ acres or 2+ farm animals (not pets). I simply need to sign a form to that effect. You may want to look into this a bit.
Best of luck. Larry

I'm in SE Michigan, I've looked into the tax thing but I don't think I qualify. I'm running a boarding and riding stable for hunter / jumpers and that doesn't appear to be covered. If I were raising horses for sale, then it might be. I'll look into it further and see if I can come up with a way to be qualified.

W. Sells in Taylor and Bill Miller in Fowlerville, they are the closest to Ann Arbor.

Anybody know where I can see that definition. I might need to become a "farmer" in order to save some money on tax.
