i am about to change the transmission/hydraulic fluid in my 2005 tc45da. anybody know if motomaster tdh would be ok ? says it meets all major manufacturers specification for shared transmission/hydraulic/differential fluid

thanks

I wouldn't risk it...you might have brake problems. Dan

Don't know about that particular fluid, but whatever you use, it must meet Ford/NH spec M2C134. or the newer cold climate FNHA-2-C-200.00 & newer yet, 201 spec. I think NH now calls the M2C134, simply Multi-G.

I just placed an order for Amsoil's universal tractror hydraulic fluid, but if you want to go for something quite a bit less expensive, TSC has their fluid, which I believe is 10w-20, for around $50/5 gal.

There apparently is also a relatively new NH-410C fluid, but I don't know if that is suitable for your 1720. I kind-of believe it would be OK, and it apparently is mult-viscosity so cold weather operation could be improved, but I know nothing more.

I am not sure if the M2C134 spec is the same as the Multi-G spec. I spoke with the engineering dep't at Amzoil, as I was interested in going synthetic for the hydraulics, and he told me that they do not currently have an oil meeting the Multi-G spec, even though their fluid does meet the M2C134 spec. Not being sure, I would take the safe route and use an oil meeting the Multi-G spec.

Is Multi-G even a spec? Seems it's just Ambra's name for their fluid. My TC40D doesn't mention anything other than 134 and 200.

I think the actual spec for Multi-G is the 410C specification. It must have superceded the 134 spec. Folks had a similar discussion about Kubota's Super-UDT spec a few years ago. Amsoil said that they recommended their fluid as a superior replacement, but for some reason didn't specifically say it met all the specs. My guess is, Super-UDT was designed as a do-it-all and to do so meant they had to show it was acceptable in all the other parts of the tractor, such as power steering, etc, and they just had not done that.

I'm going to stick with the Amsoil ATH fluid. None of the others are pure-synthetic as well as multi-viscosity!
