What is a "mobile home"?

3000 pound travel trailer: No problem
700 sq. foot mobile home: Get it moving - no problem; stopping it when it doesn't want to stop - PROBLEM. At first pass this doesn't seem like a good idea.

mobile home is a 14 x 70 Tongue weight is app 3600 lbs. Total trailer weighs about 12000lbs

Many rules of thumb on maximum trailer weight have been created over the years. For unbraked trailers, in order of increasing caution:

#1) Do not exceed 1-1/2 times the total ballasted weight of the tractor and operator. (Deere for one uses this in their owner's manuals).

#2) Do not exceed the total ballasted weight of the tractor and operator.

#3) Do not exceed the weight on the rear axle (including the tongue weight from the trailer.)

The home probably had brakes at one time (?) but I assume you're not hooking them up. Sounds like the TC48 would be overmatched. Certainly the tongue weight probably exceeds your allowable drawbar tongue weight capacity by a factor of 3 or 4.

DocHeb is right. The big question is not whether the tractor can move the trailer, but whether it can STOP it when needed. Your tractor can probably get the mobile home rolling and after 200' it will probaly be rolling along very nicely. The problem is stopping 12,000# that has a lot of momentum bult up. I have towed lots of various combos and there is nothing more scary than to hit the brakes and the towed load behind you says "I'm not ready to stop yet". A couple times with that experience and you become very conservative. If you were on a tiny downhill grade of only a few degrees, that 12,000# could probably push your tractor with the brakes locked over 100'. If that does happen, can you post a picture of what 100' skid marks look like that R4's make???

1st gear LOW range, 4WD mode, DIFF locked will get it started and you won't get over 2MPH. Use COMMON sense. Common in as "common" to others not just your kind of sense.

You already know you're not going to be pulling it down hill right? God I hope so!

How are you planning to get the ball hitch high enough to hitch up to the trailer?

NOPE

Tongue weight is to heavy and will bend the drawbar also lighten the front end to much. I really think that you are getting ready to bite off more than the tractor can chew. A 2 ton truck should do OK a dump truck or similar will do a good job for a small move.

If you're talking about moving it around on a flat site, yes. If you're heading up or down a hill or getting on the road, NO WAY.

I am glad you asked this question. A 70 foot long, 12,000lb mobile home is very near the top of the list of unsafe things to hitch to a TC sized tractor. There are far too many things that can go wrong and injure or kill you instantly. Do not attempt it.
