Hello all, I am looking to replace the industrial tires I have on this tractor. Currently there are 18.4 x 24 on the rear and 16.5 x 12 on the front. What are your recommendations for changing them out to an Ag tire?

According to the tractor data on this machine, I can put 14.9 x 28 or 14.9 x 24 on the rear. Suggestions or comments?

Thanks for your help!

Industrial R4's are supposed to be better load-bearing tires for loader use.

Is there something preventing you from using tire chains in winter? Asphalt/concrete, etc.?

Do you have door height clearance for a taller tire?

Can you change the rear size and not the front? Maybe that's okay with hydrostatic drive?

Door height is no problem.

I have considered chains but not sure on the benefit. If they could reduce the slip when in mud and snow, they are by far cheaper than new wheels and tires. My rears are loaded, and I still slip like I have slicks.

HSD I have no idea the impact.

Thanks for your thoughts!

You are welcome for the thoughts.

I think good chains on R4's will out-perform Ag R1's in snow and ice easily. R4's are miserable for mud, as you know , there may be chains that would help with that--within reason. Chains that are used for forestry for example often have larger protruding ring cleats. I think you could use forestry-style chains for snow and ice and get along pretty good. They ain't cheap. I try to stay out of the mud.

I don't know the recommendation for changing wheel size on HSD tractors. I have gear drive, I think not keeping the front and rear in the same proportion would be hard on the drive train when using 4WD on a gear drive tractor. Maybe it's no issue on HSD, but I would get more info on that beyond tractordata.

I put chains on the front tires of my TC35d makes it better to push snow on the ice.

After great consternation, my local dealer has found me a complete set of R1 ag tires that were "take offs" from a new unit when the purchaser wanted industrial tires instead. Would have been nice to find him when he bought and we could have just traded, but the dealer with the set has given me a great deal to get them moved out of his inventory.

Chains go back on the shelf for now!
