New Holland TC48DA
I found a 2005 New Holland TC48DA, 4WD with a 18LA QA loader with R4 (fluid filled) tires and only 32 hours. It has hydraulics up front with joystick for a 4in1 type bucket, but the attached bucket is a 84in. material bucket. It has the standard 12F/12R syncro transmission. It has 10 months of warranty left. I've negotiated a $19,000 offer and will probably get it. It's the best deal I've found in late model 45-50HP tractors in Green, Blue, Orange or Red. I'm new to the tractor world and also wondered if the 84in. material bucket was a little big for that tractor/loader? Any comments would be appreciated. Also need to know how much weight is normally added with 4 fluid filled tires?

Congrats on your TC48 . The tractor loader will handle a light material or heavy duty NH 72" bucket . This is the setup that should have been from the factory dealer. 84" is to large for the loader unless our moving really light material.

They recommend 800 pounds of fluid for each rear R-4 tire 75% fill + some extra weight in a weight box . I would get a owners manual there is a weight chart in the back . Is the 84" bucket the only one avalable with the tractor ? I guess it depends on the heaped and struck capacity . The 72" NH heavy duty bucket is around 12.4 cu-ft or 0.459 cu-yds accdoring to the owners manual.

The Tractor takes alot of weight because of the lift capacity . But they seem to be stable at least mine is .

The 84in. bucket was added by the dealer when new. I was told it was $800 for the bucket. I guess I will just see how it works for me. I appreciate the info about the loaded tire weight. I was trying to determine my total weight for a trailer to transport it. I don't think most people load the front tires, but the original owner decided to or was talked into it by the dealer. Thinks for the feedback. If I calculated it corretly, it looks like the tractor FEL and loaded tires put the tractor over 7K. pounds.

Yes, you'll be way over the limit on the average 7k lb gross weight trailer. You'll have to move up to a 10k gross weight or more. My TC45D with loaded tires, FEL, and boxblade is over the limit on my 7k lb trailer, so I'm sure your TC48 would also be.

I have to agree with FULLPULL about bucket size. These big buckets are great for moving materials, but they are too big for digging. For digging, I really like my 5' bucket on my tractor. I have both a 5' and 6' bucket for my TC45D. Your TC48 should handle a 6' bucket better than that 7' one. 7' wide is a huge chunk of dirt to cut in native soil. Also, if you want to dig up a stump, you have to dig a huge hole. That wastes your time and effort. The guys with backhoes laugh at us when they see us digging out a stump with our big wide loaders.

I think you have a great price on that tractor. I'd snap it up in a heartbeat.:)

It sounds like an excellent deal to me as well. I've had my tc 48 for almost four years now and am very happy with its performance.

Delivery weight 4158 lb +1600 or so for fluid approx 1200 lbs for the loader add 200 for fluid . I dont know if the tires are included in the deivery weight . From what i see some where from 7100 to 7500 lb is close. Depending on options . 19000. seems like a good price . I would check what the warranty covers .

I really appreciate everyones feedback. I've decided to get the tractor this week. The 84in. bucket is all it comes with, so I can trade it in for a 72in. or try and find a smaller QA bucket and use the 84in. for loading light material. What length trailer would work best for the TC48D with FEL. I may want to haul my 6ft. cutter sometimes too. I figure it will take a 10K Gross trailer at 16ft. just for the tractor and FEL. I would need 24ft. to haul the cutter behind it.

I think a 24' bumper-pull trailer is pretty rare. It seems to me that 20' is about the longest I normally see. I could be wrong since I haven't looked at new trailers in a long time. I see a lot of 24' or larger gooseneck trailers.

I believe you could put that tractor and cutter on a 20' trailer if you curl the bucket all the way under and let the cutter hang off a couple of feet. I don't know anything about the laws in your area and if that would be allowed. Obviously a 24' trailer would be best.
