I'm curious and maybe you guys can help. I am comparing these 2 tractors-- about the same price-- to use on a 25 acre place. Will do the basics-- mowing, medium hauling and light dirt work, etc.-- and my want to do light haying( maybe not economical, but have this thing about be self reliant). Which would you choose???

Why not a tc 45 da
IT is really powerfull and you have a hydro ==> very handy for mowing
i've an tc 45 da i make hay and mow with a mower of 230 cm (i dont now how mush inch)
tilling ... is no problem at all

The reason was because the minimum pto hp rating for the smaller balers is around 45. And the tc55da fits that criteria even though I don't even think they recommend doing hay with it.

TN series are much better built than TC series... better front end design... heavier (~6000lbs vs ~4000lbs)... bigger... stronger... way better operator layout... cab is available... stronger engines (TN60 is 3cyl normal aspiration while TC is 4cyl turbo)... much bigger fuel tank...(23 vs 13gal)

On the downside, because it's a beefier machine, a loader will be more expensive. I don't think there's a backhoe built specifically for a TN. Other 3pt pto implements are the same cost, since they have the same pto hp ratings.

These two are about the same power... if they are the same price, is the TN a 4WD or just a 2WD? I'd stick w/ 4WD regardless.

I used the TN-60 or 65 as a rental till my tc-55da was ready. The main comparison is length / turning radius to me. For your descriptions I personally would go with a TC. It has a tighter turn radius and a smaller precense in a big package. The TN is definely more Beef as descrfibed above. Both have their place, if you said bailing with some mowing etc, I would say the TN, but if you are more interested in cutting, I couldnt imagine doing that in a machine that handles bigger than the TC55.

Good luck with your decision.

Easy choice if you are REALLY going to start a haying enterprise. TN; hands down. If not, or the haying is years off, maybe the TC is a better choice. Some TC owners are having significant complaints, documented here. TN owners are generally much more pleased.

Last summer I sold my 10 year old New Holland 1920 and traded up for a TN65D 4wd with cab. My 1920 was a great tractor but my TN is fantastic. I have 27 acres and it mows, plows, discs, and plants corn twice as fast as my 1920 did. It seems to handle everything I ask it to do without effort. With the loader and 8 foot LandPride blade on the back, it moves snow like it isn't even there! I really don't notice its larger size as being too big. Its size and weight gives it the extra advantage when doing the tuffer jobs. If you have a small place to store it or very limited acreage then the TC 45 or 55 would be a better choice. As for the cab, I don't freeze anymore in the winter and I don't sweat and have to pick bugs out of my face in the summer. I have never regretted buying the TN. Either way, you will love the New Holland tractors. This is my third!

The TC55 is a really strong tractor for its size. So much so, that you will lose traction before the engine gives up. The TN series are heavier and will allow you to take better advantage of the horsepower but the size and weight of the larger tractor could be a disadvantage based on your circumstances.

The TN series will also give you a lot more loader lift & volume capacity. Only you know what your needs are. The TN60 will get the job done quicker but if you get the 55 you'll never know the difference. If you have to haul your tractor anywhere you might also consider if your trailer can handle a TN series tractor.

One more thing, in my opinion, if you don't need R4 tires, I'd go with R1s(Ag) for the increased traction. Should save you a little money using R1s.

Have fun shopping!!!!!!!

I looked hard at the TN60 before I decided on the TC48. I needed the sharper turning radius, and the TN, being about 2 feet longer just looked so huge, really a farming tractor, and that front end is O-la-la a monster, even the over built Kiotis would take a step back from that front end. It has a greater turning radius, the loader specs I compared, as well as loader manufactures. The usual dealer supplied NH loader is a Millerloader.com unit. Very well built, and I spoke with a Miller loader engineer about the Miller fitting the Kioti DK45S. No dice on that one. Upon comparing the loader specs I found that believe it or not, the printed loader specs for the TC 48/55 LA18 loader will lift more, has greater breakout power, in addition to the sloped down boom design. The Miller is the old tried and true bent dog leg, an oldie but still a goodie. If you have the open area to swing the bigger TN series around, I would op for it. I've read that they are both about the same price, altho I didn't price one out at the NH dealer. They only had a TN70 there, I sat on it, and of course I wanted one of those also. In fact I've got that problem with just about all the new tractors I sit on. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif They had the TC48 on the lot, and were more willing to deal that one.
