New Holland 5050
Husband just bought a used Woods Dixie Cutter MD160. Has some issues with parts are rusted as it had not been used for 5 years, sat in a building under a tarp but we are working on that, trying to get blades off. But thats another thread issue.

Our problem is that when we hooked it up and raised it for transport to get it home, the front of it hit on the tires, bent the front shield, but that is an easy enough fix. It seems the lift arms are not long enough, can you get a extension for them, such as longer track rods? We have looked online through the parts catalog on the Ford New Holland web site but it doesnt seem that they come on any size but the one. Is there a difference between category I and category II as far as the clearance?:confused2:

The warranty just came off in April and as it always goes we are now having little issues, such as the steering wheel locked in the up position and will no longer come down so we are trying to get parts for the steering column, either the gas strut or a spring, hopefully nothing too pricey.

Any help on these two items would be appreciated.:confused3:

I'm not aware of any way to lengthen the lift arms nor do I know of any varable length lift arms. I'm presumimng the mower has a three point hitch and is not a pull type. Does the tractor have oversized tires on it? Are the stabilizers adjusted properly for the implement? That's about all I could think of that could cause your problem. I looked up the model and that looks like a 5 ft mower. If that's true? If so, that's a pretty small mower for a 80 pto hp TD5050, which has a Cat II hitch.

A picture would be helpful.

I do not think they are oversized tires. We have never had this issue before. It works fine with our other implements. We are starting to think it is he mower that needs some adjustments. Got the manual out and will see what it shows, maybe there are some extensions for the mower we can get. Thanks for your response.
