TE20 need some help.

I need a starter drive gear for a 1949 Ferguson TE20. It is not the same as the TEA 20. The starter has a nose cone ( like a chev 1/2 ton) and a 1/2" shaft. It is a lucas 6 volt .

Also need axle seals for this tractor. Are they the same as the 2N or 8N???

I'd guess it may be closer in design to the 8n rear end, due to the axle nut.. the 2n used a 1 piece axle/hub. However none of that is to say that the seals interchange.

I'd check with tractorpart.com

Is that the continental engine made over here?

No, It's the Standard engine Made in Coventry.

So is that then a TEA 20?

The reason I ask is that there is some confusion in parts reference books about what motor/equipment went into what tractor.. and what models were produced where.

The one I looked in showed that the tea was the one with the 'foriegn' engine.. and the contenentals in the regular to/te series.. etc.

It's a TE. Earlier than the TEA I believe. TE was sold for domestic use in British Isles, and TO was sold overseas (U.S.).
That's my understanding of it anyway.

That's where the confusion is. My cross reference shows to and te tractors with contentinal engines, and tea with the english engine. That's not uncommon to see sn' and parts books that don't agree. The I&T manual for the N series quotes a different stopping number for the 9n, and starting number for the 2n.. actually shows an overlap.. and that's not possible.. they were a continous run then changeover, using the same SN sequence.. no overlap and doubled sn's.. etc. figures /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif just makes out jobs harder 50ys down the road trying to scrape up parts.. etc.
