I've had about 20 minutes experience with a late model Tecumseh in a small wood chipper. That is, before the rod came out the side of the engine case! That's how long it lasted... And no, I didn't bother with chasing down the cause.
No doubt at one time Tecumseh put out a quality engine, otherwise they would not have been in business as long as they were. Unfortunately, my purchase of one was in their dying days. My choice these days is Kawasaki, but I have no problem with Kohler either.
