Tedder out of time?

In our case, the tedder had jumped a tooth because someone set the basket height too low and the teeth dug into the ground.

The torque limiting clutch is there to protect the unit from that kind of stuff. It didn't jump time because it was being used for tillage. It jumped time because it is worn out or has too much backlash between a ring gear and pinion. I owned a KH-40 in about 1990. My partner got so mad at it he unhitched it from the tractor and flipped it over backwards with one heave. We had a new Kuhn tedder within 3 hours. We got raped on the price, but we had to have a tedder THAT afternoon. When you are trying to make hay, there just isn't room for junk equipment.
The good news is I am not trying to make hay in all this wet wearther.
