Anyone familiar (as in operated) w/ or own a Vermeer TR90 or Lely 300? As I understand it theyre one in the same. Just want to get general input...does it work well, well made that sort of thing. Anything about you really like/dislike etc.

ETA While Im primarily interested in the TR90 any other input on other brands of tedder/rake combos would be appreciated.

I have a Kuhn GRS-25 that I'd be down and out without it. I tend to tedder the hay even though its a dry week. Keeps the wet spots exposed. Don't go real fast though it will spin off the good stuff.

Hi Bill
I guess youre happy w/ yours, no complaints? Do you feel its a compromise or does it work as well as a tedder and rake? It looks like the Kuhn does all the functions of the TR90 only its not advertised that way. Did you get it new or used? Ive been looking for a used TR90 and havent found one yet. Ive seen several Lely 300s but all were sold by the time I could call about them. Seems theyre a hot commodity.

BTW I didnt know Kuhn made a combo machine...thanx for posting! I thought Fella did but my dealer couldnt figure out if that was true or not. Seems most (all?) of the euro mfg make such a implement.

I'ts been a good machine. I bought it used from an Ag Dealer who had it on a trade in. Seems that one of the shift levers broke off that are used to switch each side from out of phase tedder to in-phase rake. I just stuck a welding rod into the crack with a 3/8" metal dowel and that was all it took.

I also have a NH 56 5 bar that does a good job, too. But, If it rains or the hay gets clumped up, the tedder option produces hay so good you can not tell its been rained on. If I keep the speed down, the alphalfa leaves stay on and the blossums, too.

Parts are obtained from my local JD dealer. Bought a few extra teeth for spares based on the frequency that the 56 spins them off. Didn't need to,
Someone stole the CV jointed propshaft off it when it was still at the dealer, I've just been using a conventional TSC shaft and it's happy.

I once borrowed a NH tedder and it sold me on the idea of such a tool for our frequent rains, lying weather forecasters and damp fall mornings. Without this, I'd never get a 2nd or 3rd cutting dried.

I'm a supporter of separate rakes and tedders...:D

NH258 Rake...and a Kuhn 4 spindle Tedder...in my opinion both are outstanding doing what they were designed to do...
