Telephone Broadcast Dialers

Our community association is looking into purchasing software or hardware to telephone members to remind them of meetings; give them status on various projects; etc.

Does anyone have experience with software or hardware that will call roughly 200 different telephone numbers using one telephone line?

I did a google search and found a bunch from free to very high dollars, however, have no experience with any of them. The writeups are interesting, but I would like suggestions as to what features or characteristics to look for; what brands or software works well; etc.

Interesting that in this day and age of computers, that this older system is being considered.
But am sure the association has made the determination that it is what they want, and how they want to go ahead into the 'future'.

I for one, would not want my phone used that way. I get enough nuisance calls as it is, and the automated "Library" message that is as mechanical as a message can be and takes forever to finally get to the point and leave the message is a painful minute or more. Would hate to think of getting many of those in a weeks time, let alone maybe more than one a day.

Seems computer e'mails would be much more advanced. One can cruise thru those prettty quickly vs the voice machine, but just an opinion (and probably an outdated one at that /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif ).

We use email for most of the association members, however, there are a lot of older members of the association that do not have computers, and the phone system is for them. We tried to set up a telephone tree, but there is/was very little interest in that. We were asked to look into a telephone broadcast dialer thus the reason for the post.

Look up the term reverse 911 for software. Also phone tree package big in smaller calling tree packages.

You may have problems with people who have listed themselves on the federal Do Not Call List. I believe political orgs. and charities are exempt but I don't know who else might be.

He said they were 'members' of the association that will do the calling.

If you do business with an organization.. the do not call list doesn't apply to you.. I.E. .. you have chosen to do business with that organization if you are a mamber...
