I was mowing some thick stuff today and looked down to see the temp gauge past the two dots. I stopped mowing, reduced throttle and just made some long passes out in the open to cool it down. I also looked and the grills were pretty clean.

This normal?

With the engine turned OFF, use compressed air and blow through radiator from engine side. I expect you will see quite a bit of chaff and debris come out. Make blowing out radiator a regular maintenance task.

I had pulled the radiator screens and cleaned them a coupled days ago but I've mowed quite a bit since then.

Working in an evironment such as bush hogging or baling hay creates a lot of chaff and debris in the air that all tractors are susceptible to. The small radiators on compact tractors make them more prone to clogging.
