Just put up a 10x8x16 storage tent for the Kubota. I put it on railroad ties then reinforced it with cable and shackles

I've got 4 tents, two I use for my tractors and equipment, two for hay. So I'm a big fan of cheap structures that don't get taxed. I assume you used screw anchors or something to hold it down, it will take off like a kite if you get strong wind. You also probably want some ventilation or you'll get lots of condensation inside. I pop riveted drier vents to the back wall of mine, they seem to work OK. Be interested to see if the wire reinforcement abrades the tent surface. I've had smooth things wear a hole right through the material from the wind blowing it and rubbing.

Thanks for the heads up on chaffing. I did wrap everything I thought might rub with electrical tape and I used 2 1/2 lag bolts into the rr ties. The Oregon coast gets very windy in the winter so I hope it is still there when I get back down there

great idea with the cable cross-bracing. I've been using canopies for the same reason, and the main points of failure have been getting airborne and racking sideways. I think I've address the airborne issue with driving form stakes with a jackhammer and ground rod driver attachment. Your solution looks great for addressing the issue of racking in heavy wind.

Good idea with the RR ties. If you're worried about wind you can always drill a hole through them and use rebar to stake the RR ties to the ground.

Looked like you picked a nice spot: no trees nearby to drop a branch or fall on it.
I helped a neighbor put one of those tents up--it wasn't fun, directions were terrible.

They were tuff it took a full day to get it up and 4 people to get the tarp on but we got it and I hope it keeps my baby dry this winter. I live in Alaska and only get down there every few months for now
