Gents, I have a YM2000/pre-1975 engine, and am replacing the old non-functional temperature gauge with one that works. Since I am new to tractors and have no manual I'd like to know what the normal operating range is on this particular model. For reference, what is the overheat temperature in Deg F?

Also, can anyone tell me how much the YM2000 (with an old engine and new sheet metal) weighs? I'd like to buy a trailer that would accommodate this tractor as well, in case I have tp transport it, but my vehicle which is a Freestyle, will only pull 2,000 lbs safely. And if the tractor is in the 1500lb range then I've got to come up with a 500lb or less trailer...

Thanks,
gcp

1664# per the book.

Is that Freestyle sprung soft like a car, or rigid like a truck? It might serve for getting the tractor home slowly and cautiously on a day with no traffic, but forget about carrying it all over. It's just not safe.

I think these weigh more than that book weight. My nearly identical tractor with loader and oversize tires is over 3000 lbs bare - before ballast, ROPS, QuickHitch, etc.

I brought mine home behind an old flat-side Trooper (rated 2000 lbs towing) on a Uhaul racecar trailer and that was plain scary. It hasn't been off the place since.

Thank you guys, good info!

The Freestyle is not for towing such heavy load that's for sure. I just thought I might take all into consideration in case I need to haul it to a mechanic but lets hope not....

Even hauling a few miles to a mechanic will tighten the ole butt muscles to the point you wonder why am I doing this? Lo and behold, a new heavier duty trailer will be used next time. Don't ask me how I know, but I DO speak from experience. I will forever remember the view in my side view mirrors when I could see the entire length of the trailer with tractor at @ 60 degree angle to the truck. Had traffic in two lanes stopped behind me. Yes, I got real lucky.

BTW, now have a 16 ft, 7K rated trailer. With implements, can still wish I had a longer trailer.

Are you sure the temp gauge is non-functional, or do you just need to clean the wire connector. Shorting the gauge to ground should peg the needle if it's working. My YM2000B never gets above the 1/8 mark unless the rad fins start to plug up with chaff. I estimate that to be around 160 degrees.
